So I'm not really a huge fan of the stock radio/nav software that comes with the 2016. I'm thinking of replacing either the software or hardware, but I've never attempted anything like this before. I was wondering if anyone had some advice or suggestions?

I would start with the speakers first and go from there. Might find that it's not the system it's the speakers. A lot of people have made this change as of late and absolutely love what they are hearing now.

So it's not really the sound I have a problem with, it's the user interface. It glitches all the time, the navigation in it is really terrible when compared to something like Google maps and it's just aesthetically bland. I miss the face plates of the early 2000's with different colors and displays that would change with the music.

Even a good double din won't look right in most newer vehicles, the size of the OEM radio is huge and is hard to fill with a tiny screen then a larger surround.

A custom Ipad dock solution is the only thing that would look right, and we'd be talking thousands to mould, fit a stereo with amp and the ipad mini.
