Long story short, yesterday I got my truck back after 40 days in the dealer's collision center. The whole process was a $15,000 comedy of errors. The second to last problem was the airbag light came on during their test drive. They said it was a sensor in the seat belt buckle and replaced it.

So the light is on again. I'm not sure when it lit up. As much as I don't want to, I'm taking it back to the dealer. In the meantime, am I in danger of unwanted airbag deployment? I'm presuming it won't work if I wreck, so I'm guessing it won't work on its own either, but I'm paranoid that if I lean forward the buckle sensor will trip the damned thing and I'll get a face full while driving.

some of this, a little of that
What year is your truck, there is an upcoming recall on the clock spring, that could cause a light to go on. Also I think if the airbag light is on that it will not go off.

It's an 07. I'm sure it had something to do with the crash, although it didn't deploy. I so dread taking it back there. I didn't think I'd ever get it back the first time.

i had roughly the same situation in which the dealer replaced the clockspring and it fixed it. and if the light is on, they will not deploy. im not saying thats the culprit but good chance

If the light is on, there's a better chance that the air bag won't deploy when you need it to vs deploying randomly and unexpectedly. Lights like that make me nervous also but it's probably the clock spring as stated above.

Took my 06 in with 91k miles on it and dealer ordered a new clock spring for me and will be replacing it under the recall. Bondy's Toyota in Enterprise is awesome! Thanks Sam

I took mine in for the inspection, took 4 days to order the part and about an hour to replace. The only issue I have is now I get the strange "springy" (for lack of a better term)noise from my steering column in a right or left turn. Only from a stop and the faster the acceleration, the more pronounced it is. I haven't had an opportunity to take it back to the dealer yet.

Read your recall notice and keep it handy. The notice I received basically said, in more or less words "We know we have a problem, the clock spring setup doesn't work and might break on you. We haven't figured out how to fix this yet. If yours is already broken, come on in and we'll replace it with the same crappy part to buy you some time, if not, sit tight and we'll keep you posted".

So you might have just received the same part and it could break on you again in a couple years.
