    Best is difficult......

    Plenty of happy afe stage 2 si owners here and on xru, seems to be the go to intake for many boosted and non boosted.

    But I've noticed some intakes have the tube made of aluminum or something while others are just plastic? Im wondering if the aluminum ones are louder? aka more swishy sounds the better :rofl:

    I've had afe, urd, k&n, and stock..... The only diff is the plastic may be less prone to heatsoak

    K&N makes most woosh IMHO, but is terrible at filtering and bad for maf sensor

    Well if you are wanting a CDI for a non supercharged taco you are really just getting it for the woosh so that would put K&N at the top however I personally would mark it off the list because of filtering... So would the AFE stage 2 be the winner?

    Afe requires no cutting, filters fine, good for maf, I'd say its a winner. I kept going back to it myself.

    get the cleaning kit WITH THE FILTER, and WASH THE THING FIRST!!!!!!!!!!

    trust me, I got it.............set the filter on its side and watched a TON of oil drip and drain off of it...........it coulda fouled up the maf sensor and gummed up the butterfly easily.

    u dont like in CA do you?

    If you want a REAL Cold Air Intake there is only one option URD TCAI (http://urdusa.com/store/Intakes-Col...-INTAKE,-05+-Tacoma-4.0L-V6/product_info.html) you have to do a little cutting of the radiator wall but its childsplay. This intake actually brings air from outside the engine bay to give you a truly cold dense air charge. I have this on my ’11 and love it. If you don’t buy this intake stay stock the OEM intake is a cold air intake.

    between URD, TRD,K&N, AFE, STOCK, and VOLANT they all get ambient air at approx 35-40MPH.

    URD is for flexing the idle intake temp muscle.

    how do I know? I have run all of them cept the volant but have friend with one and they used scangauge like myself............... dont mind the Horsepower readout

    K&N or similar open element designs will have the most heat satuation and highest IAT's during summer time idling. Cools back down after a little driving. Plastics will have the least heat soak. As well as a different harmonic resonance from metal tubing intakes.
