I have a cold air intake on my 98 taco 2.4ltr and am looking for a part to block the hot air from the engine, any answers?

I had a friend use a decent gauge sheet metal and make his own barrier box on his Silverado's intake, turned out nice, it had the cutout for the intake tube and he lines the edges with some sort of rubber or weather stripping. He is REALLY mechanically inclined though, I could probably do the same thing and I'm pretty handy, but I don't know if mine would turn out nearly as good as his did, he's just that much of a craftsman. I don't know, its worth a shot though, just an idea.
