    Good day everyone,

I have a few questions regarding the air on board switches.
I have recently got a set of spot and drivers kc gravity led lights from 4wheel parts and got 2 AOB switches to maintain factory looks. (I think the provided switch looks pretty awful).
The issue I have is that the wiring harness provided with the lights does not have any relays.
Now the instructions for the aob switch mentioned you need a 3a relay in order to not melt the switch.

Has anyone run into this issue or have the switches installed without the relays and have you had any issues. I am not to familiar with electrical wiring and do not wish to burn the truck down because I didn't use a relay. I am not installing the lights to the low/high beam and according to the kc website they draw between 2.2 and 0.6 amp per light, so 4.4 to 1.2 amp per set of lights.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks all.

P.S. I have looked on this site for pics of these lights installed, I noticed a few of us where wondering what they looked like installed. I will put up pics of them when I have them on (still waiting on nfab bar, 3 week back order here in Ontario.)

Those are the 2 wiring diagram for the light and switch. As you can see one says I need a diode and relay and the harness has none.

how do you want these lights to operate? when do you want them on and when do they need to be off? besides the switch being turned off.

it sucks to see those AOB switches rated so low... you will need to use a relay for those switches.

I wish to have them I dependant right now. One switch for spots and one switch for spreads. I might eventually try and put the spread to turn on with high beams but I have to confirm if it's allowed in this province first.

Harness - Red/Yellow stripe wire from AOB switch to pin 86

Switch - Red/Yellow stripe wire to relay pin 86
Switch - Green/Yellow stripe wire to a fused switched 12v source
Switch - Blue/Yellow stripe wire - use an add-a-circuit and tap the "Tail" fuse. this will light up the switch when you flip on the parking or headlights.
Switch - Black wire - chassis ground

    A few things
Thanks! That's some good info. I just wired my AOB switch up to a different type relay( not 86,87.. But 1,2,3..) so the last part of your post helped out and it works perfectly. One question though, should I add a 3 amp fuse to my 12v wire feeding the switch? I have it going directly to battery. It works fine now but I might add one just for cheap insurance. Thanks

Yes I would place a fuse on that. It will protect you from the wire shorting out and causing a fire.

It goes against logic but the fuse proctects the wire and not the component it supplying power to.

So, I'm all happy today, Nfab light bar came in, time to put the lights on, see what they looklike on the truck. Get the bar installed, put one light on to check fitement. ****, lights on the end don't fit, friging things are to deep. Can't get a hold of Nfab or kc cus there closed. Just can't win. No idea what I'm going to do now, have a mind to return everything and call it quits, so frustrating. So anyone out there, if you want to get kc highlights on light bar think twice. Not sure what I'm gonna do now, wait till. Tuesday and wait for a reply from those 2. Which my guess will be call the other lol.

Anyways, just thought I'd vent a little :)

Without physically seeing all that mounted up.... I'm would say making custom mounting brackets for the lights to fit on the bar are in order. How far off are they?

1/2 inch to 3/4 I asked fab if I can add a hole to the bracket and bar to push it out more without making it to week but I won't get answer until Monday.

Yes, installed the lights yesterday. Took a while but got an e-mail from nfab stating it was safe to use the last 2 holes on bracket. So that's what I did. I was just finishing up a custom bracket extension when I got the reply . I have the lights mounted now, I installed the harness up to the relay in the engine compartment and waiting on electrician to tell me when he can install the switches. (decided to have professional install for me as I'm not that confident in electrical work). Here are some pics of the bracket I was building and what the lights look like on the truck. I will post more when they are wired in, cant wait to see how much they put out :).

Any threads on here that tells you how to pull the dash apart to mount those switches. I just bought one that fits the area to the left of the steering wheel. 2014 TRD Sport so I have one spot available over there. Thanks.

I found this video on youtube. its called:Toyota Tacoma 2012 2015 LED Daytime Running Lights. Shows how to get bottom part of dash under steering wheel off, which will give you access to top switches.
    Hope this helps.

Having an issue with wiring if anyone can assist. I am replacing my existing led bar rocker switch and have the air on board harness wired up as follows. Blue wire and green wire on an add-a-circuit going to the TAIL fuse behind the plastic tray, red going to relay and black going to ground. The aob switch lower portion is always illuminated but when pressed, the upper portion does not illuminate and the led bar does not turn on. Do I need to move the green wire to its own add-a-circuit going to my bed outlets always hot fuse? Or could something have happened when I disconnected my previous rocker switch?
