I have a 2006 Tacoma, My airbag light is on, But also the light for the passenger air bag never changes. If someone is in the seat or not. I took the seats out and put dielectric grease on all the connects to make sure they were making good contact with no change. I get the light in the instrument cluster could be a clock spring but would that cause the passenger air bag always showing off??

I am 98% confident that if the airbag system detects a problem of any kind, it shuts down the entire air bag system and turns on the warning lights.

Muddinfun is correct. If there are any problems with the system the system will not function. I've replaced at least 40 air bags, most on Honda's and Acura's. Remove the ground, wait a few minutes, and reinstall ground. If that doesn't work it is a dealer repair (IMO).

Scan for which airbag code is setting off the light, OP. Many older code readers don't have airbag/ABS reading capability but perhaps an autoparts store can scan for you. It'll be specific with not much more guess work.

For the record, my money is on the clock spring spiral cable as those are the most prone to failure on this system considering the age of the truck.

That's cool they offer small hand held readers that'll diagnose air bags now. I didn't know that. Good info to know.

The horn on my truck doesn't work but the cruise control works. That is why I am thinking the clock spring, my cruise control is behind the actual wheel, But I would think it would also be attached to the spring.

SRS (air bag) light on and your horn isn't working? I'd hate for you to blindly throw (expensive) parts at it, but I'd bet a cold beverage it's the clock spring.
