Ok so I’ve dropped the u bolts and removed the shocks. Says to lower the axle to separate the leafs from the axle so I can slide the rear Toytec block in but when I lower it the leaf springs don’t separate from the axle...watched 2 different pro YouTube videos and have done everything they’ve done

 

Running low on daylight and I’m getting irritable lol

 

The leafs are held together by a long thin bolt running through the middle of the leaf pack.

Edit: Also, you need to take the front and rear shackle bolts loose from the leaf springs.

 

Edit Again: Just read the block part. It sounds like you are not lowering the rear axle enough. Possibly because you don't have the truck jacked up high enough. If it is high enough try whacking it with a mallet. There is a little tit on the axle that lines up with a hole in the leaf pack.

 

Nevermind I got it!!

 

That’s exactly what it was. Wasn’t lowering it enough. Had to take a secondary jack and jack the rear up higher then lower it again and got it. Was too close to the ground and was running out of room lol

 

Last question...all done except I don’t know how tight to make this bolt...where the shock attaches to the frame. Same for the coilover bolt. Did the coilover as tight as I could (minor bulge in spacer was recommended so that’s what I did.) but need to know about the rear shock. And what about setting preload?

To tighten the top nut on the shock, you need to use to open end wrenches. One for the nut, and a smaller one that fits the very top of the shock.

 

Sorry if I didn’t clarify I know how to tighten it just not HOW tight to make it

So I just had my first interstate experience with 4.88s. At 70 I ran at about 2300 rpms. Which is about 400-500 less than I was running with factory gears and 35s. Huge improvement. The truck is so much more responsive and it doesn't feel like I have 35s anymore, a side from the kinda "floating" feeling they give lol. Going from E rated 33s to D 35s made a big difference in the feel of the road..

Huge thanks to @BamaTaco56 for helping me install my front bumper. Was up into the night finishing up the wiring and getting the winch spooled. Oh and trimming my damn fender flares lol. And i now has all the lumens lol.
