August isnt the best time to go from what ive heard, its hit or miss. That being said, my family took a 6 man boat out last aug for some intercoastal fishing and caught a boat load, kept around 12-15 trout and red fish and a couple black snappers too. I also believe red snapper season may be closed in part of aug. Ill see if i have some pics ill post later.

Found em caught a bunch of cats and lady fish that are trash but still fun to catch and a few blacks too small to keep. It was structural fishing rocks and such, never got.more than a half mile out, but shorter trip out and in means more time fishing

 

I'm booked for 2 days to go catch snapper in June. I heard red snapper was going to be a short season this year.

That does suck. We are scheduled to go out on the 10th and 12th. Looks like we need to find some FL state waters to fish if we want any on the 12th. Normally we go out into Federal waters.

Is there any other good eating fish to target other than the snapper that isn't trolling or generally an overnight trip? We were thinking about trying Tuna, but our charter said he doesn't do Tuna from his boat and that most of the time they go way out for them.

 

We get a small personal charter and don't troll going out. Dual outboards with no cabin, just a small shade over the wheel. I believe it is only a 24 ft, but either way, we make the run out and make the run in.

Last year we ended up pulling a 12 ft Tiger off the bottom. Got him up high enough to see him, then he broke the pole, snapped the line and cruised by the boat maybe 10 feet away.

 

Anyone know of a good Toyota offroad shop in North Alabama?

Im gonna attempt it tgis summer on mine. The back wont be anything, but the front im gonna try and do the "no spring compressor" method a member posted on youtube and see what happens

 

Well, when you do the "no spring compressor" don't have a beer in one hand and say "watch this".

I think the Toyota Offroad shop in North Alabama has been my garage. I should have bought a wall mount spring compressor, but now that Justin in moving, I'm not sure I'll get much use from it.

 

Hope everyone made it through the night. We had a tornado warning from 11PM to 1AM. Half of my family in Eclectic was under a tornado warning from 2AM to 3AM.

Didn't have any touch down though.

 

Some areas north of you got hit pretty hard. Several touchdowns on the news until midnight when we lost power. I started up a small thread actually in the off-topic area for anyone that might need help across the south. Figure WTH, you never know.

Glad ya'll are ok. We are still without power at the house.

 

Hate to hear you're out of power. We got lucky and just got a lot of rain and lightning. I remember Alabama power saying they had thousands without power and were working all night to get it fixed.

Glad a power outage was the worst you got down there though.

 

My wife and I spent several hours in our 'safe place' last night with the girls. It got pretty loud at our house, but never scary. There are pretty heavily damaged areas about 10 miles north of me.

Currently about 40k people w/o power in Alabama Power's service territory. About 18k of them in Birmingham area. I only see 25 customers currently out in Marion. Our crews are working hard to get it back on for everybody.
