First time I've ever been spotted by a TWer.

Thanks! How long have you been here?

So far I'm loving the move south, very beautiful and everyone has been super nice, quite a bit different from back home. Our place on the other hand sucks...

@nagorb been here almost 21yrs. It does grow on you. I could go with a little more snow and less humidity. I'm from NorCal but was born in SoCal. What part of Cali are you from?
Yea, are first place to live was interesting. But you find better places the longer you are here, and as you learn the area.

From the SF bay area. Has the weather the past week been typical? I'm no fan of heat or humidity but it hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to be. We had no choice but to rent without seeing the place first, I know, not a smart thing to do, but got to do what you got to do sometimes.

Anyone have any advice on places to shoot? Non private, non ranges, like national Forest or?

I'm also from SOCAL, been here almost 18 years. The humidity is my only complaint about Alabama. It sticks to you year around, and after all these years, I still hate it.

I'm outside most of the day and hate it when the humidity is as high as the tempature and there is no wind. Not even a breeze.
As for a place to shoot, the wildlife management area(WMA) near Helena has a range. You have to get a WMA permit, I think it's around $10. Don't know anyplace near auburn.

I go to the helena range fairly often as its 10 minutes away. Just hunting or fishing license is all you need.

Very nice place. There is also one in calera off highway 25. I forget the name of it though.

^^ I still read the forums here and there. Kyle has been MIA for, well it seems like forever. Not a surprise to see his Taco up for sale.
