Quoted to steer this bitch back on topic!

How bad was it sealing the tippy top of the tub? I had my interior out when I went back to do mine and it was still a nightmare. Do you have that pocket next to the fuse panel in the door where that piece of foam once was? I was thinking about filling that with expanding foam but wasn't sure if that would hold moisture or not.

It was still a pain in the ass.

I seam sealed what I could by hand, then used Flex Seal and sprayed it in every nook and cranny I could find. It isn't nearly as aesthetically pleasing as @jubei777, but I'm hoping it got the job done. I also seam sealed/flex sealed a bit on the underside of the outer portion (near the cab mount) as that appeared to be my troubled area.

That area at the peak of my tub was an absolute BITCH on the passenger side. I literally just did the seam seal there last night and I was cussing a blue streak the whole time. Between fighting the blower motor and maneuvering around the antenna cable, the whole thing just sucked massive salty balls.

As for that dead space where the foam was, I was thinking the same thing, Mike. But I want to make sure if I do that that the expanding foam is CLOSED CELL. Open cell foam would likely just let water past as well as absorb a bunch of it. That area sucks because on my tubs, I don't have a weld there to close it out and seam seal it on the inside, besides the fact that I can't get all the way down there from the inside anyway. Maybe a closed cell expandable foam is the right way to go...

By the way, I'm going seam sealer, brush on bedliner, and then flex seal on the outside. Hopefully it all works, because grinding it all off to fix it would suuuuuuuuuuuck.

I guess I never had that much trouble on the tops of my tubs, both times around. Just the bottoms.

I also have small hands. Just used a dollop of seam sealer and crammed er in there.

You know what they say about tiny hands...

    I'm scarred for life, Brandon!
    So much lulz...

Yeah, getting my hands past the blower motor without smearing the sealer everywhere BUT where I intended was certainly a challenge. So glad that part is over.

Yup. All I see is cut and bashed metal in that corner, no welds can get to those spots, and there is no way to seal that bottoms part. I sprayed the fuck out of it with flex seal but I feel like it needs something else. @alee891 you know this area right? Opinions?

The peak of the tub or the empty space that used to have foam? I'm good at the top, the bottom was sprayed with flex seal inside and out. Nothing has filled the void, though I'm chewing on Jason's idea of expanding foam now.

The bottom. I think what I hate about that section is I know it basically leads down the rocker because smoke would come out near my back windows when we were welding so if water gets in the rocker somehow it's in the cab now. Not sure if that was a risk to begin with with a stock truck but it's more apparent now.

The expandable foam was actually Mike's idea, and I'm starting to think that's what I'm going to do. I don't like the idea of not having something down there on the inside.

I found this on the Google machine. Expandable, waterproof, and tack-free in 45 minutes. Might be the way to go.

I think I'm going to do the foam to be safe - maybe over the weekend. Should be easy enough to do and not time consuming at all.
I also plan on herculining my rocker panels sometime in the future. Not that that would prevent water from entering, but who knows.

Are you planning on herculining the bottom 6" or so? My paint is starting to chip pretty badly and was thinking of bedlining it.

Didn't @Star-Lord do that with Herculiner? Or was that just black paint? Probably not a bad idea with all of the rock strikes these trucks see. If you take your time masking, I think it would look really good.

As an aside, I used herculiner for my inner fenders last night. It's messy, and you have to mix it often, but it turns out really nice.

Yep, there's a few writeups on here for it that I've found. Herculiner seems to be the best product from what I've read in the past.
Did you go through it pretty fast? Would a half gallon be enough for the rockers? That's all I'd be doing since I cut the bed sides.

If you want I'd be down to split material cost and do both rigs at the same time.

I'm definitely up for this. It's not high on my list, but if we have a day during an upcoming weekend to burn then let's knock it out.
