Are you referring to the front section of the frame rails? I think that's not necessary on the 2001+'s.

It's the frame section where the cross member for the skid plate mount.

    It just unbolts.

I love it only thing is that the instructions are a little poor . But the quality of the bumper is great i just sanded it and painted it black .

Do you have the instructions from All Pro? Or did Summit provide their own? You can download All Pros off their website

Like @jbrandt has said, it OEM bumper reinforcement just unbolts and then the All-Pro bumper should mount directly to the frame rails.

The cross member? I had to cut the pointy part off my frame horns to install my All Pro Apex bumper but that was it

My 04 had to do no cutting. Only the 98-00 models have to be cut

That piece you still have on there is also bolted to the frame, and that is the piece they are referring to as the crossmember. Two large bolts (1 each side). That comes off too.

Unbolt the 3 bolts that attach to the skid plate, too.

Ideally, it's not rust-welded on there and you can re-use the mounting plate.

My CBI bumper (the DIY kit) came with the plates you're supposed to use for the years where you have to cut the frame rail/cross member off. I still ended up using those plates because the threads on those welded on nuts stripped out, so I cut the little pieces out and welded in the plates that "I didn't need".

I don't have a pic of that but I think you get the idea...

x2, i've been curious to see how those AP bumpers actually look. I considered one before i bought my ARB.
