Just wondering if anyone has experience with all terrain tires on a stock 2wd 1st gen Tacoma? I have a '96 single cab 2wd, 2.4l and 5 speed. I am thinking a mild all terrain, not too aggressive and quiet on the street, and light weight so I still get good fuel economy. Basically a tire with a little more bite than a typical highway terrain. Anyone make something the would fit these guidelines in a 195/75/r14 size? or that fit a 14 inch rim?

    Thanks

General grabber makes a a/t still in 14."

I would however step up to 15" for the sake of tire options. You can still get a LT or C rated tire in 15, and have alot more options such as a bfg a/t or goodyear.

I'm no tire expert, but I'm guessing you'll have pretty slim pickings with a tire that small.

Ok, I checked out the General Grabber AT2 tires in 27x8.5x14. Looks like a good tire. How would it do on road though? And being only a rear wheel drive I am not gonna be going through a lot of mud or anything but would run some dirt roads and some dirt tracks. Dont want to get them if they would suck my gas mileage way down. Anyone experienced drastic MPG loss with these tires?

Mileage will go down, noise will go up. Neither drastically but enough to notice. Road usage will be like any other tire. They are not great in mud, but they're not a mud tire. Might wanna reevaluate why you want an a/t tire, on a 2wd, in 27", on a 14" wheel. You're not going to achieve much.

Hankook Dynapros are lightweight and not too aggressive, but I’m not sure if they make it in a 14” wheel size
