Damn. What a disappointing main event.

 

I really hated seeing Cain being being a shadow of his former self. He will always been a “what if” he had been healthy story. That knee looked blown and here we go again - more rehab. I know he got hit in the back of the head by King Kong basically but he used to run right through those. Francis is a beast when he is on.

 

Ugh dang that knee. I think it could’ve played out differently (but not knowing would take the win). Some Injuries can be rehabbed but knee related injuries they tend to stick . I have friends with previous knee injuries although not from fighting , it’ll affect them here and there .

 

Cain has just been so injury prone. He has always looked kind of softer from a physique standpoint compared to some of the other guys but he looked especially soft tonight which makes me wonder if that knee was injured coming in to this fight. I think him and Cormier both would have had a much longer shelf life had they modified their training. They both went all in and beat the crap out of each other for years and that just doesn’t lend itself to longevity. Cain is only 36 but looks older now because of all those injures. I’d like to see him back because in top form he’s just an absolute mauler.

 

I’m trying to find a good angle if Cain got clipped with an uppercut. I thought I saw his head whip back.

 

I only watched twice, live and the replay, but I thought it was a jab and straight combo that hurt him.

 

I think Cain even said something to that effect when he was interviewed in the cage post fight by Anik.

 

Maybe he did just get clipped. I need to rewatch it because it happened so fast. Either way, I’m not so sure this happens to the old Cain.

 

Also, who was the commentator? I really like his commentary. He can pretty much call exactly what each fighter needs to do. Even calls what the corners going to tell them.

 

Sounded like Dominick Cruz. He’s getting better as he goes and I like having former fighters in there calling for that very reason.
