Just bought a 08 BASE Tacoma last week and love it. I drove a Ranger for years and it was a good truck, but with gas prices I wanted something a little better on the wallet.

I also got rid of my wifes Durango and bought a Kia Spectra5, so you can imagine what kinda gas I am saving on both these new cars.

My Ranger was a 3.0 V6 vulcan that got 18mpg tops with less hp than my new 4cyl Tacoma. I know the sticker mpg on the tacoma says 25 tops, but after my second tank I was averaging 28mpg.

The Spectra5 is getting 35mpg easy. I thought I would never buy a Kia but we love that little car. Its solid and really tight.

I was going to get a pre-runner but desided to go base considering I was buying for max mpg.
