So I have a few PM's wanting info and pics of what we did to my bumper. The bumper started life as an allpro without the side hoops. I was always looking for a more prerunner bumper.
The winch setup on the allpro makes the bumper stick out in spots. This caused me to smash the front skid alot in the dunes. Since I changed my mind about a winch there was no need for it.
I had Lenger Racing [http://lengerracing.com/] in Grand Rapids, MI change it into something that better suits my needs. They cut out all the winch plate stuff, moved back the lower hoop, cut my allpro skid back to tie to the lower hoop, bent tubes to go from the upper and lower, and made an skid. Cant be happier with it I was even able to keep the clevis points and the approach angle turned out great.
After a weekend at the dunes a didn't even hit the bumper/ skid once. Before I had to take the bumper off after every trip and bang the 3 hole skid out.

    looks good!

The way the skid on the AP bumper sticks out is a reason why I am probably going to go with a trail gear lo-pro bumper when it comes time.

Plus it looks like the skid would crumble the first time it touched anything.

yea I slapped them on for turn signal to keep me legal until I got a chance to do something else. I just kept them after I finally moved the bulb to the marker.

    ...looks professionally done

However I can't imagine not having my winch up front.
Saved my bacon and a few other folks... more then a few times.

Having a winch and a protruding front bumper
can be a problem for desert runners and such.
But it's never held me back on a trail run.

Think if I was wanting a pre-runner bumper...
I would choose something else instead of altering the All-Pro winch bumper.

I altered both my Front and Rear All-Pro bumpers...
    a long time back.

The front got a taller hoop to fit my four LightForce lights...
and the rear bumper was reinforced so that it can tow without issue.

I have the first production run of the All-Pro Fr/Rr tube bumpers...
and so they do not reflect what is currently being offered by AP.
Close... but not exactly the same.

Mine have been installed on my trail rig since 2004
So I'll suppose I got my monies worth.
And they have survived their rigors well.

I believe All-Pro still shows my rig on their website
demonstrating the install process for the '97 - '00 Tacoma.
^ but I honestly haven't looked for quite some time.
    yep... still there, https://www.allprooffroad.com/images/stories/Instructions/9800tacofrontbumper.pdf

All-Pro used to be located 1 block from my home in Hemet, CA.
But a coupla' years back they relocated to Murrieta or Temecula CA.

Pictures of it are in the links below ~if anyone gives a hoot~

It protrudes 4" and I drive a toyota.. meaning I don't need a winch. I've never done something I haven't been able to get out of. I'm not hatin on winches at all, just not my thing

Wow I forgot about this thread. Winches have definitely saved me on multiple occasions. I have multiple offroad rigs and decided this one was going to be more dedicated sand truck so one really wasn't needed. I rarely even have a need to put it in 4x4.
