Off Road hands down. You will use the locker if you get it, guaranteed. It has saved me several times in less than a year. White was my second choice, but black is the best.

Off-Road, or Sport... let them decide - make them run the numbers on both trucks and see what they will do for you.

    Or just flip a coin!

Best of luck - either way, you're getting a killer truck.

My preference, the Sport. I have an '05 4x4 Quad Cab with long bed and I have no complaints. Mostly used for on-road driving. It' rides "smoother" than the Off Road, even with my Toytec 3" kit. The LSD and suspension are plenty for my use and if you're not doing much off-roading I think the Sport should be fine. And besides, it's got that BA looking hood scoop which totally changes the look of the entire truck!

I'd go with the Off-road package:D. I really wish i had the locker, coulda used it a few times. And white's the way to go. Doesnt look dirty as much as the black, and hides all of the scratches. If you dont get the locker, you'll probably regret it down the road- i know i do.:(

Its gonna be black... i have had both white and black and i was wondering what would be best but i like the black and i will just deal with it.

as for regretting not getting the locker... i dont think i will... If i am wrong correct me but wont the LSD do better if you had one wheel in the mud and one on pavement? As i understand the LSD will shift the power to the wheel on the pavement and give almost 100% of the power to the wheel that has traction?

    is that wrong?

Yeah. :p It's not an active system. The LSD just provides resistance at the differential to encourage both wheels to turn at the same time. If you have one wheel with no traction, that's the one that'll be spinning just like with an open differential.

if pavement is involved in anyway the lsd is more convenient and just as effective if not more so . the locker would get out just as easily but it does not automatically kick in so it would be a pain to engage in a situation like that. but if you are ever on a rock or stump and have one wheel in the air, the locker will be much more effective than the lsd. i know you dont think that will happen but like i said, first thing into our last trip tacomaman got one wheel off the ground, so it does happen occasionally. also, if you are completely surrounded by thick mud, the locker will get better traction than the lsd. like i said before, i personally recomend the locker, but the lsd is a great option. the lsd will make you more competent on the road, less competent offroad. the locker will make you more competent offroad but less competent on the road. so it boils down to what you want to excel at. i wish i could have both and select which one i wanted when i needed it but unfortunately you cant do that. i will say that the lsd does work fine for light to moderate offroading. me and hodge went through a fairly hairy trail and he has a 2wd with a lsd and he was fine. sorry for the long winded answer. to sum up, go with what you like. the sport definately looks better and the truck will be very capable either way

For the most part it will be fire roads and the occasional romp though some mud i never go alone and i usually carry a tow strap with me when i am off road now in my Jeep Grand Cherokee so i know what it takes to get unstuck and i figure if need a tow out once in a while its okay right? i would hope its from another taco :D and not a jeep or any thing like that

no getting towed out is not an option. you dont want to single handedly make the rest of us taco owners look bad do you? if you get stuck you have to floor it until you get out or your engine blows. got it?
