I accidentally got into too much mud last weekend and now both of my front diff seals are leaking. While I'm doing it, I noticed the seal on the CV axle (90304-A0001) has NO rubber left on it. Dealerships near me don't have any. Does anyone know of a decent alternative from the parts stores?

Hm, I'm not sure that's the same seal I'm talking about? This is the one that actually presses onto the outer CV joint.

The one on the CV is the outer seal.
The inner is the one in the spindle.

@6 gearT444E can correct me if I’m wrong here.

I’ve always just match up the seals I pulled off.
Toyota doesn’t make reference to Inner or Outer.
They just call them Seal. I usually just point it out to the guy at the dealership on the screen.
Or order the parts my self online off of a diagram.

Toyota calls that a dust shield. Although it’s more of a seal. I’ll have to see if I can find a PN when I’m at home. I don’t think there are any aftermarket suppliers of that but somebody must make it since you can get aftermarket CVs

That's the inner CV, isn't it?

If you can’t find it locally. Buy a cheap aftermarket CV and pull the dust shield off that.

This is the seal I need. The thread posted above says it's 90304-A0001. Looks like there's no aftermarket alternative? Is that still the case?

    You are correct.
The link above doesn’t refer to that seal as the outer.

Further research shows no results for an aftermarket option.
Not unless you buy the whole CV axle.

If you don’t have the money or time for an OEM.
I’ve heard the NAPA HD Axles are pretty good for the money.

They are not OE, but are supposed to be good for what you pay.

    Well that stinks.

To save making another thread, when I was popping out the driver side CV from the diff, I noticed that it's kind of loose. Radially, not in/out. Is that normal, or is the roller bearing shot?

I appreciate the suggestion, but my OEM Cv's are in good shape, and I really don't want to lose my OEM's to a core. My brother did that with his 4runner and has had problems ever since.

I understand that, I have a NAPA axle.
When I pulled my old axle out, it looked ok.
So I put it back in. NAPA axle is still in the box for a back up.
