we went to the dealer this morning to compare the two side by side. aside from the salesman that didnt have all his information correct, it was a good visit. it was nice being able to see base, SR5, prerunner, TRD sport/offroad all in a line to see the changes.

overall, i dont see any problems with the size of the access cab. i set the front seat where it would need to be for me driving it and my wife was still short-distance comfortable in the back.

and the entry level truck is bloody tiny. saw a sand mica regular cab with no options. oy.

i think im going with the AC. i'll be getting my Tacoma Tuesday! if all goes according to plan

I haven't read any of the other replies, so sorry for what I'm sure is a re-post...

If you will have kids before selling your truck, you will absolutely regret not getting the DC. My buddy and his wife had their first 6 weeks ago and the car carrier barely fits in the back of his DC. (Though, he puts it behind the passenger seat rather than in the middle, where I think there would be more room.) I just don't see how it would be possible to properly secure a child carrier in an access cab and still have any room at all for a passenger in the front seat.

If you're worried about giving up bed room for the DC, get a TRD Sport w/ a long bed. Long as hell truck, but best of both worlds.

I totally agree! In my personal opinion, the AC is so much better looking than the DC.

Sounds like a double cab for the future based on your needs. If you need to haul people double cab. If you need to haul big things in the bed, get the longer bed access cab. Or a long bed DC if you need both and don’t mind a long truck. Easy choices.
