No disrespect at all, but I've noticed something different in these Toyota/Tacoma forums that I wasn't used to.

I've owned several nasty Camaro's in the past 15yrs of different generations in addition to my Toyota's and am used to those mod forums that are more geared toward performance. For those, mod talk is on the level of strokers, boost, heads/cam and performance bolt-ons.

I sold my 4Runner and picked up a new Taco recently and was eager to start modding, and I know there are lots of meaningful performance mods out there, but this forum seems to focus on cosmetics more than anything.

I think I realized something weird when I searched for "best first mods" and found nothing but threads about grills and focus on color and emblems when expecting to hear about supercharging and turbos and tuning tricks.

Lots of ricers in these parts!!! I suppose it is a Japanese truck and all.

A "Mod" is anything the owner wants to do to their truck....Be it a suspension, SC, or fuzzy dice.

First mod you'll always see is the deck plate mod and it's a tuning mod not a cosmetic. I hope you stick around and enjoy!

Well guys hes kinda right. this forum is all over the place, with lots of good info and lots of garbage. I would say searching is the best thing you can do and like chris4x4 said start a thread asking. CustomTacos.com used to be a great place but dude sold it, but alot of the info is still there. come on guys dont give the dude a hard time. we dont want to end up like TTORA.

Alot of us bought a Truck for its use, To haul shit, Some of use are more into suspension and travel then motor work at this time. then others are into speed (xrunners). I suggest looking into the performance and tuning thread. In there, there are some guys who goes all out with motor work, Like with S/C and more.

Cosmetic done by hand is cheap. So it's a popular subject.

Performance mods cost no matter what, so they're talked about less. Plus you'll note alot of guys here (not me) are in the 20's crowd. So they don't have alot of discretionary cash. Shoot, I don't at 43 even!

The motors in these trucks are pretty good, unlike a cheap-azz Camaro. Unless you have a Camaro with the big motor in it, it's underpowered and REQUIRES performance mods. Plus these trucks aren't raced, they're taken off road where torque and clearance counts more than 1/4 mile speed.

Ask visa or my wife. They both constantly remind me how much I've got left to spend.
Here we are more about the off road side of the tacoma more than boost. For that discussion you need to check out the x-runners, that is there thing more than our. Check it out here: http://www.xr-underground.com/

Lots of Rice? Please do explain

The owner of this site won't let us talk about our street kills...so that just leaves us the track which we don't run too much and the trails and mud, lifts, tires, rims...audio, mpg

Mostly 4 and 6 cylinders here...Tundra solutions are running the 8s, even Titantalk is talking up the Yotas...but rice? Don't take it too well on here:cool:

You're right Redz. I will specify. TW is kinda all over when it comes to modding. There isn't a lot of tuning or forced induction talk over here, but we will bend over backwards for each other. There isn't anything this board doesn't know about lifts or suspension.

CT is loaded with info about tuning, both SC and turbo, and lowering. That board isn't as "user friendly" as it used to be.

Its like telling a bro, No offense or anything I do a lot of bro beat down.

Also maybe look into getting a single cab short bed tundra with a 5.7 and throw a s/c on it and get that 6.0 stroker kit for it.

Not all forums are created equal...
You gotta hang out here a bit longer and you'll learn the culture of this forum.

This forum is a little bit of everything..... looks, performance, offroad, towing/hauling, Fun mods, work mods, you name it.

There are other forums that are suited more towards other stuff.
    Like....
TTORA is dedicated to offroading Although I don't visit Custom Tacos myself, they seem to be dedicated to street trucks/performance/looks, etc.
ToyotaNation....well, not sure what they're dedicated to...
    www.toyotanation.com

This forum tends to be - friendlier than most. And if people start getting nasty....then fellow forum members jump in and help out and 'make it right'.

Ain't nothing wrong with these trucks and whatever you do with them.
