Called toyota corporate and they said exactly what I expected. The extended warranty ended and I've missed the cutoff so there's nothing they can do

I guess I could go to some dealerships but I just feel like it's a lost cause. Any dealership is going to look up the warranty information and see it ended in 2016 and say the same thing.

I would flat out ask for your money back from the guy you bought it from. If that's not possible, my next step would be getting a quote on the cost of repairs. From that point forward you can better weigh your options. Right now you're not sure if you're looking at a few hundred or a few grand in repairs.

He already spent it. He's paying off debts

I know this may not be believable but i've been messaging him a lot and I really am convinced he had no idea. Just some hispanic dude selling stuff to pay off debts. Was really sad to see the truck go.

I keep hearing about these motor mount issues with the 05s, now I've probably caught air in my truck more than a few times and I'm wondering when my engine is going to fall out?

Some of them went bad,the motor mounts would collapse into the frame, making the cooling fan hit the fan shroud.

Ya. I mean doesn't really matter. The fault is mine regardless of whether or not he knew. I should've checked better. I knew about the tacoma frame issues. I gave it a quick look but didn't crawl under it or beat on it like I should have and not being thorough cost me. Can't really blame anyone but myself

Most of the older Tacomas around here look like that. I live in Ohio. They just drive them until they cant anymore.
My brother in law found a 85 with a clean frame that was otherwise beat and did a swap with his 93 five years ago and its still on the road.
If that is the only frame issue that you have I would take it in and get it welded. Opinions don't mean much when your not there but I would look into that before you do anything else.

Ya idk. Probably gonna post it up and see if I can't get like a grand or two less than what I bought it for (while disclosing the issue) and see what happens and if it doesn't sell, I'll look into getting it repaired. I'm just hesitant to get it repaired because I feel like it would be impossible to truly repair the whole frame. Could patch a couple spots but what's to say it's not about to crack somewhere else a few months down the road?

I've been trying to explain: The extended warranty indeed ended in 2016, but in late 2017 a lawsuit was settled that mandated frame replacements for 12 years from first in-service-date. Since your vehicle was inspected by a dealer in 2016 and found to have a qualifying hole, it should be covered by the settlement.

FORGET THE EXTENDED WARRANTEE - that has precisely nothing to do with it. Any dealer that pretends they don't know about the Frame Lawsuit Settlement is flat out lying - call corporate. Your case has nothing to do with extended warrantees - it's about the frame settlement.

I see what you're saying but if I read the settlement properly it was for cold weather states and MO or KS was not listed (that's where I live). I can call and bring this up but I'm not optimistic.

I really do appreciate your help though and it is certainly worth a shot. Please let me know if I'm not understanding it correctly

Additionally, for a period of two years from the date of the final court approval (May 21, 2017), if the performation does not meet or exceed the Rust Perforation Standard, and the vehicle is registered in a Cold Climate State, the dealer will apply CRC to the frame, if for Tacoma vehicles it was not previously applied and the frame was not previously replaced, subject to these and other limitations included in the Settlement Agreement.

That part ONLY has to do with getting free CRC treatment. That's not what you need.

Excuse me if I'm being an idiot here but I just want to know what I'm talking about when I call toyota back so can someone post the deal and like circle what I'd need to tell them? Because I've read what someone else posted more than once and I guess I'm missing it....

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/frame-settlement-wep-notice.520834/

Oh maybe I see it. "The coverage offers the latter of 12 years from the Date of First Use or 1 year from the date of final approval (5/21/2017)"
Is that saying the original extended warranty was extended until 6/2017?

I'd inquire about the note in 2016 that Toyota saw the frame issue within the time frame and what it means. Probably won't help but...

OP many suggestions here on your next step. If not yourself, I'd advise getting a little assistance from someone who is a good penman and write a letter to Toyota (e-mail). Don't stop until you get a no from someone who has some authority such as a Director of Consumer Affairs there or better yet a VP of sales, etc. Surely worth a penned letter no? Otherwise:spending:
