How much does that guard weigh? It looks pretty stout.

    Stock....ish
It's when you have too big of tires that you must remove the liner and in turn have a stock intake box which scoops everything into it. You have to run a different intake so you don't suck in everything to you motor.

Ah- so the liner covers it? Didn’t know that, thanks.

about 170lb with the winch, I didn't like the tow rings that were optional from westin so I machined web ring shackle mounts out of 3/4" steel plate.

Can you tell me what all parts went into those switch panels?
Can you tell me about the headlights and all that went into them? These definitely get me jealous!

I'm trying to do something similar to this to more enclose my bed rack (so my dogs have more protection from the elements on long rides).

    Did you do it yourself??

I'm trying to make one that goes all the way down the sides too AND fits around my accessory attachments. Requires more skill than I have but a friend made a great recommendation for anyone that wants to try this but not good at fabbing stuff up themselves: go to a Marine Canvas shop, they do custom stuff like this all the time so should be cheaper than an offroad place. Thats what I'm doing soon I'll see what they can come up with.

Although I like this look of the more common BLACK roof, this one is actually a lot more functional given I go camping in the desert all the time, helps keep the cabin temp down I'm sure.

Yeah, I had a bestop, camped in it, but I had a better concept of a load bearing structure with minimal styling that would be adaptable, usable as a shelter, with a spare mount. On road trips it’s nice, got a cup holder and an iPad mount for when I crash back there
I called a canvas place and had them whip it up to my measurements, a marine shop is genius, I’ll go that route when I replace this one eventually, because while it’s uv protected and waterproof, it’s just a proof of concept kinda.

Nice well I'll post pics of whatever they can rig up for me.

I've had the idea for a while but you're honestly the first person I've ever seen actually do it on a Tacoma... kinda surprised custom canvasas aren't more popular on our bed racks made me wonder if it was harder than I thought... But Jeep/bronco/k10 guys seem to do it all the time so figured it can't be THAT hard.

Seen people build some bed racks that go OVER the softtop (just looks too big to me though), but no one else actually canvasing a custom bed rack like yours.

Seeing yours has me motivated to figure it out! I think it gives the best of both worlds.

Switch panel was designed and 3D printed by me. Switches are from CH4X4 custom labeled.
Headlights are quad bi-led I have a detailed write up here

Shame I couldn't find more pics of the full install but this is the most "custom" thing I've done, at least have a pic proving I did it myself as I am pretty proud of it lol.

From all the research I did at the time I seemed to be the ONLY person to fit a 10" JL W3V3 behind the driver's side small cubby. This was a full depth sub not the shallow mount ones almost everyone else uses. I don't like the sound of the shallow mount so I was DETERMINED to fit a full depth sub back there. Curious if anyone since has been able to do it as well... This was back in 2014

I used a custom box from ********* and had to dremel out the rear an extra 5mm or so to fit the magnet. I then put on a grill guard on the woofer cuz it was within millimeters of the back seat... also had to stack 4-5 washers under the rear seat mounts to tilt them forward ever so slightly so that the box BARELY fit it. Tightest fit I've ever seen but it worked! And proved you can fit a full depth 10" JL sub behind the driver's seat only.

Amp was mounted under my driver's seat, also threw in a pioneer head unit and backup cam although getting the JL w3v3 sub to fit was the only true "custom" part of it. I wanted to keep the bigger passenger side cubby open for storage.

Edit: just realized this was in the 3rd gen section but whatever... I'm gonna try the same thing soon on my third gen!

    Nice, Thanks!

Do you have the switch panel/designs for sale, or setup so that you get paid if people want to print their own? I don't need this now, but if I get any more accessories I will.
