    True that! :amen:

Wasn't implying anything else or trying to sound like a sanctimonious prick and hope it didn't come off that way. Especially around this time of year I just remember mowing the neighbors lawn and shoveling her walk. I remember how my mom would slip over there with some dinner or lunch because she was an older lady living alone. I remember how when my mom was out of work and money was tight food and things would sometimes just sort of show up for us too. That's still out there, here and there but in the larger sense it's becoming less common, and I do kinda blame technology. Things like social media don't really make us social, and sometimes the things that advance our world hold us back in other ways.

Whelp, it's official. Guess I'm old now, LOL! I blame the time of year making me a little maudlin! This had nothing to do with oil or Tacomas so sorry for the distraction and I'll shut up now!

I refuse to shop on Amazon if I don't have to for that reason.

The question I have is whether all those Royal Purple nut jobs will grab their chests and die, or will they become normal people and go cheap

I just bought 6 quarts for $19.99 last week and changed my oil. It meets the specs, full synthetic and it’s a reputable manufacturer at the end of the day.

    I don’t see any negatives.

From some users reviews online, Amazon oil is made by warren distribution, who makes the walmart supertech oil. I would have no issues running this oil but I will "test" it in my beater Camry first.

How would you test it? Other than putting it and driving your car and going “yup it works”?

You could probably do the same with like maple syrup...

I have no issues using this oil. It's likely just rebranded oil that still meet the same API regulations like any other manufacturer. I have used cheap brands such as supertech in the past and always use plain conventional oil in all the vehicles. Never had oil related engine issues but I do change oil every 3-4K miles to keep it fresh.

I don’t think this is going to be an issue. At least not for major chains. Amazon sells a lot of stuff but within the past couple years a large portion of their inventory has turned into no-name crap Chinese products.

That, and a lot of manufacturers don’t warranty anything purchased through amazon. I don’t make major purchases through them.

What they are good for is expendable items or stuff that you can’t get locally but can get through them in 2days prime to your door.

What actually pisses me off is their new “free 1 day shipping (prime members) with qualifying orders of $35” scam. They source this shipping to a bunch of local couriers if your area supports it, but the problem is 9/10 they won’t make the delivery window and thus have tricked you into buying more to get maybe 1 item you needed a day faster. But it ends up taking either 2 days or longer because these items get delayed most cases.

And adding to that their refund/return policies are getting stricter as far as flagging accounts for too many returns, etc.

It bothers me and I don't like Bezos politics. For me, avoiding Amazon is a twofer.

Pretty sure that's the point...run it in a beater car first so that if it does perform like maple syrup, at least it's your beater car with a seized up engine and not your truck.

Although this Amazon stuff I'm sure is perfectly fine, there are enough positive reviews on it that I don't see why anyone would need to worry about using it. Hard to beat a full synthetic oil change for under $20 (not including oil filter/drain plug). My concern is the additive formula they use...if it's wildly different than the one in the oil you normally use, that might have unwanted effects. Doubtful anything major but I've always been of the mindset it's good to stick with one oil/brand unless you need to change it up for some reason.
