What climate is that? Maybe I'll strap my Hi Lift across my hood, because they resemble a firearm so much
I live in an area where heroin, meth, and narcotic pills rule the streets. These people don't want to steal shackles, recovery straps, a funnel, or wrenches. That's too much like work! My shovel and ax have never been stolen or used to break into my truck, yet, either. No locks on them.
In fact, I feel a lock would only entice a would-be thief further. A lock represents "Hey! There's something inside here worth being locked up. Don't touch it!"

To each their own. Again, I think it's a cool and clever solution, but here I'd be scared someone would either call the police or key the truck.

Just spray paint over the lettering. 90% of people wouldn't have a clue what kind of box it was.

Educate the public, don't allow their ignorance to grow.
    Paint em black or something.

You are talking to someone that lives in Kentucky, they are not scared and if you called the police on someone in Kentucky because of an ammo box even the 911 operator would probably laugh

I don't know what that is, but it looks like a Hollywood-made interpretation of Appalachians. unsub

Doesn't it kind of lose the cool-factor then? :p

Did this awhile back. Be sure to seal the holes the bolts go through, water can and will get inside and cause problems. Mine is an $8.99 can from Wal-Mart, I've just been keeping a bottle of HEET in there during the winter.

I'd think that taking the weight off the rail and putting it on the wheel well or bed could only help.
