Yes, I know you haters are out there, but I'm not one. I'm always looking forward to pumpkin beer season (but not pumpkin spice lattes). When it comes to pumpkin beers, there's a pretty wide range of flavors, from a very beer-y flavor with only hints of pumpkin (Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale) to the sweet, bourbon barrel aged pumpkin pie flavor of Pumpkinator (Saint Arnold). I tend to lean toward the spicier, more pumpkin flavored beers. Saint Arnold is based right here in Houston so I always try to get my hands on some Pumpkinator when it shows up, but outside of Pumpkinator, I don't really recall what the others I've had tasted like, so I'm wondering what others I should try.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Ok hear me out. Elysian Night Owl.

It's a pumpkin ale, but it tastes like a pumpkin PIE kind of like the one you mentioned! I've gotta add Saint Arnold to my list.

That's one I haven't tried. Added to my list.

Pumpkinator may be hard to find up in New Jersey. It's made here in Houston, though I think it gets some national distribution. Pumpkinator is the third highest ranked pumpkin beer on Beer Advocate, and #95 overall. They also have a bourbon barrel aged Pumpkinator. It's an imperial stout, 10% ABV. It's also about $8.00 for a 12 oz bottle, but very much worth it in my opinion. If you find some, get it.

For many of them this is the case. Most are terrible. But when they're good.... Oh man they're so good.

Around my parts there's no consistently good pumpkin beer. I had one from Alley Kat in Edmonton, AB that was amazing but only just the one season. The following years versions weren't as good.

I have to admit I posted that meme in jest. My wife bought me a membership to a beer club. Once a month they send you a 12 pack of different stuff. For October they included a pumpkin beer that was 13%. Tasted like pumpkin pie and made you very happy at the same time. Don't ask, forgot the name.

Well, it is funny. Plus it's exactly what the Viking of Disapproval would say. I wonder what John Cleese's actual opinion of pumpkin ales would be.
