Just got a 2018 tacoma, TRD Sport, black, damn near my dream car and I absolutely love it. One thing I would absolutely love though is android auto/apple carplay accessibility with it. Now I know there are companies that make aftermarket stereos for that exact reason BUT I thought of something (and I like keeping it oem). Since toyota did add auto and carplay to I believe the 2020+ tacomas I'm curious to see with the two being the same generation if an earlier 3rd gen tacoma would accept an oem stereo from a later 3rd gen tacoma with auto and carplay (figured I'd swipe one from a part-out). So would anyone with a 2016-2019 and another person with a 2020-2023 tacoma be willing to crack open their dashes and take pictures of the wiring couplings on the back of the stereos to see if they are close to interchangeable (specifically if anyone has either of those WITH the jbl premium sound package since mine does). Or if it is the case that you know this would not work, any recommendations on a good aftermarket stereo with auto/carplay (and works with the jbl system) that's as close to oem as possible?

Some guys have done a swap with a 2020+ head unit but it is not plug and play to my knowledge. I believe a member here makes a plug and play wiring harness specifically for this kind of swap.

If any of yall find that guy let me know
Also is it a different wiring configuration for if you have the jbl system? I assume it is but idk for sure
I assume at least the screens and the mounting bracket/hardware are the same for both heads too right?
