I’m working on a parts list for a angel eyes projector retrofit on my ‘04. I’m having trouble finding the projector I want and/or finding a product that lists a picture of what they look like on a vehicle. However, I did find this one in the link below. Does anyone have these? If not, can anyone recommend some angel eyes to me? Thanks again TW!!

Did you notice it is high beam only? In other word it is useless as a headlight replacement.

Well since the first gen only has one bulb I figured it meant it just had the ability to switch on and off. Any recommendations though?

1st gen (your year) has H4 bulb meaning it is a bulb with two filament: one for short beam and one for high beam. So it is in fact: Off - Low beam - High beam. This kind of projector you need to look for. If you search 1st gen forum you will find bi-projector retrofit (like for example https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-retrofit-walkthrough-morimoto-mini-h1.213080/). My personal recommendation is to stay away from LED (LED bulb in projector or dedicated LED headlight). My personal experience is that LED light sucks while driving at night. It looks brighter because it is "whiter", but as for lighting the road is much worse than stock incandescent H4. Incandescent bulb in projector is even better, HID in projector is ultimate.

I guess my question is how do you get the angel eye look? Is it something that you can install on a projector or does it come on it already?

Do you want lights that look cool, or actually function well? They are generally mutually exclusive unless you think the stock lights look cool.

Either look for something at theretrofitsource, but it's going to be a "universal" kit and you'll need to DIY with the stock housings. Or pay someone to do it. In the end, the cost starts adding up pretty quickly, and honestly you don't get what you pay for.

Just do a search for the ultimate headlight upgrade, and follow those recommendations. New factory OEM, or TYC CAPA certified housings, Osram bulbs, and the upgraded wiring harness to handle the higher amperage, or spend double that (or more) for HID retrofits. I've never felt like my new housings and the wire harness are inadequate for street use (I have everything but the super bright Osram bulbs).

If you want something for off-road use. skip all that crap and get some LED pods or a lightbar on the roof. You can spend $1000 on fancy headlights and still have inferior light to what you can get with lights on your roof (for off-road).

The tried-and-true solution for the 04 is to use TRS Mini H1s v7 / Stage III, and if you want angel eyes glue them on the front of the Mini Gatling Gun Shroud with JB Weld as shown on the TRS website. For housings, you can use the TYC CAPA certified ones and you'll have no problems and you don't need a new roll of butyl rubber to re-seal. Thus far I haven't heard of anybody being unsatisfied with the bang per buck with this approach.

So the wiring that comes with that one in the link all I need? Just these from trs, housings, and I’m good to go?

For parts and wiring, yes it has everything. You would still need JB Weld to attach the halos.

Edit: That tacomaworld 1st gen walkthrough link Rysium posted above is the howto I used for the procedure, it is spot-on.

Personally I don't like that BMW look but de gustibus non est disputandum . Like I posted before the link is one that you use, still need to add your own halos (LED ring or something ?) that probably needs to be connected just to corner markers circuit (if you want that effect).

I just noticed that TRS made a new mount to better line up the bulb in the mini H1's. It does look better than the stock clip and although I have gotten pretty good alignment, I could never get perfect bulb placement-- so for my install at least these MORIMOTO MOTOHO1DERS look like a great upgrade and are probably worth adding to your install while you have it taken apart if you go with the mini H1s.
