Annual OR/WA TSF Camping and Wheeling Shindig

A few things:

• It looks like Brown's Camp is first come, first served except for a group site. Is there any plan regarding the camping situation? Just get there early and hope there are spots open?
• I'll want to caravan in Friday morning, just because.
• My girlfriend may be driving in for off-roading, but not camping. Not sure how this affects the front page roster.
• Speaking of which, my difficulty is easy.
• I'm looking at adding two D-Ring recovery points to the front. Hopefully that will come to fruition in time. If not, then I'll just play Capt. Hook with the stock point.

Edit: I didn't mean to imply that my girlfriend is easy. Ha. I meant the roster listing my difficulty level.

 

• Camp site: yes, no reservations. There is a group site that we have gotten in the past, but recently discovered a better (free) dispersed spot. It's on the main entrance road, so it's easy to spot us. It can be noisy mid day, but we aren't there to care. At night it's quiet, and we can be as loud as we like talking by the fire (if there's no burn bans, of course!)
• Caravan: I will be coming in from Olympia, so I won't make it by the 8am caravan time that's stated. I'm probably looking at 10am or 11 to reach North Plains.
• GF issue: noted, doesn't make big difference.
• Difficulty: please note that I'm not going to be doing full-on training. It ended up with me walking and coaching. There's people that get paid $500 a head to do that for you professionally, whereas I've got to take time off and fund a multi-hundred mile trip. I still have a high interest in making sure the group is safe, that we are aware of the trail condition before committing, and spotting when necessary. Since you are one of the early Friday arrivals, you can ride with/follow on an example trail before the crowd arrives and we do a full run.

Well, good thing you corrected it to look as if you are easy.

 

I talked with @snowgod06 , and it looks like he might have a conflict with schedule. It's getting to be a real tough year for this trip!

I should be there Friday night, and Saturday. Not sure if I will have my sliders (it's only been 6 months ), so I may be a passenger, or take some of the "lighter" trails...

Understood and completely agree. I'm not actually even looking for training as I'm fine just driving around on FSR, taking bypasses, and watching others. I don't wanna break my truck.

Damnit, I pay taxes and want my far share of gas tax!

It's my last planned outing of the summer and it'll just be fun to be along and take pics/video etc.

And just for the record, I probably don't NEED a caravan. If nobody else is, then it'd just be easier for me to find my way.

 

I hate to do this, but I'm not going to be able to make it :/ Work is so busy that I can barely find any time to fix my truck let alone make the meet It's sucky I was so stoked to finally wheel the tillamook forest.

 

Im on the fence right now, depends how much I can get done on the truck this next week before the long trip. Ill know by early next week

 

Might be able to make a late friday appearance and stay saturday. unfortunately i am having some aftermarket electrical problems and just removed everything so i'd be CB-less. may be able to find a hand held.

if i can get my tent together this weekend i'll be able to provide a solid yay or nay, hopefully CB install as well. will update accordingly.

 

tent is out of the box and put together. rack is on the truck.

Great, I'll try and get the same dispersed spot as last year. I think all the vehicles will fit (I know all the people will)

 

Just found out I'll be finishing up at a work site near Estacada early Friday morning, with nothing to do until Saturday afternoon. If there's still room in this trip, I'm down to make a detour on my way back to Seattle and check out TSF. I've never been there, but I'd love to check out the trails from easy up to hard (no damage). After watching some youtube videos, I think the extreme trails are out of my league. How early on Friday is anyone going to be in the area?

 

Depending on my departure, I'm guessing I'll be getting into Hillsboro by late morning. I'll post up here once I get into town; but I lose signal pretty soon after getting on HWY 6
