    How about Saturday July 21st?
Gives people enough time to commit and bail and recommit ;)

    So yes or yes?

Sorry, I try my best, but I can't always keep everyone's personal events memorized.

I am not a natural leader, nor am I a natural event planner. My skill is in providing information and assistance to others.
My original goal of this thread was to provide a centralized area for others to announce their trip plans, and I would help facilitate recording details of who's coming, where things are, stuff that's needed, so on. However, my plan was to always have someone else calling the shots.

In the early days, I did a little extra prodding just to get things going so we'd have events on a semi-regular basis, then step back and let all the members plan as a group, etc. Over the course of time, I'm now finding myself announcing trips, setting the dates, planning the routes. People start posting, "when is the next run?" "where are we going?", and eventually I start getting PMs asking me what the plans are. I show up to events, and all eyes turn to me. It's not something I've asked for, though I try my best to step up to the plate.

During the lead-up to the event, I try to keep on top of any posts that relate to this thread, which may mean cross-posting to 4 different forums, various offshoot threads, PMs, and personal phone calls. I typically check in on those 4 forums 8 times a day, depending on my workload and time in the evening. If the situation calls for it, I monitor weather cams, national forest websites (for trail closures), and email the active duty ranger for a condition report. I'm also making sure that everyone knows how to get there, and everyone clearly knows how to obtain their passes.

During the event, I make sure that the day's events are going to challenge you, but not be so hard or dangerous that there is a high risk of damage due to skill or equipment. I try my best to manage group size and leadership roles. Most of these places have poor or complex maps, which I try my best to interpret as things are happening, and I try to take a route that is efficient while keeping people interested.

One of the things I'm trying to pay more attention to and manage is how I present myself to the rest of you in camp and on the trail. I want my actions to reflect a certain standard of how I want our group perceived; a group that is active, responsible, safe, and represents a brotherhood.

If it sounds like I'm trying to make it sound like there's a lot of effort, that's because it is a lot of effort. Maybe because I'm not naturally good at it, maybe I'm doing some things wrong.
If I miss a post or forget a detail, it isn't intentional. I may need reminding.
If something doesn't fit into an individual's plans, be it distance, skill level, or dates, I'm not trying to ignore that person. I have to focus on what works for the majority, and continue planning so that through the quantity of events, something will work out in the future.

When you say I am a "bastard" and "suck ass", I'm hoping that you are doing this as a friendly prodding for missing your post. If you are implying that my efforts are not appreciated, I would like to reiterate that you can plan and manage the next meet, since I wouldn't mind simply 'showing up' to the next one. If you would like assistance, simply send me a detailed list of the event once plans are complete and I will be happy to update the first post of this thread.

21st I'm at a family reunion. I could do the 22nd anywhere between Salem to Naches.

Mike, thanks for keeping tabs on our events and organized in my opinion. I sure hope(at least I hope) he was being sarcastic in his post and was bummed for missing out on the annual trip/run as there is always next time!

I've always look towards you as a 'leader' because you're more experience and knowledgeable than I am when it comes to 4wheeling(and I'm not trying to kiss ass, it's the truth!).

That could be fun. Is there a fee involved?

Nope! Just a cap on how many people, plus a cut off date. If there's any way you can humanly make it, GO!!!! My greedy side hopes that they hand out goodies. :spy:

I have to go to a wedding for one of my good friends, and I couldn't get there in time even with my own private helicopter

lol for the first set of trips, I had no clue what I was doing. I never wanted to say anything because I thought you guys were all old pros and would get fed up with how slow I was driving on the moderate trails. I still have less seat time than most of you.

I still drive pretty damn slow :turtleride: At least it's on the black trails now :p

Hey all, I'm starting to get poked for having us all do another run somewhere, sometime soon. Things that I know are on various calendars:

This weekend is a NW WA trip
6/29 is a 3-day McGrew trip with GitOut
7/8 is WARN winch training with GoutOut, plus TSF trail run
7/13 is GitOut Noonday trail run
    7/28 is FJC Naches trip

Note that we can pick one of those weekends as well if people want to do something different.

I personally like the 6/30 weekend, 7/14 weekend. July 22 would be ideal for me for Oregon-based areas. I can't get a 3-day weekend, and I'm doing things on all the rest of those weekends.

    Areas to go:
Gifford-Pinchot for exploration, nothing real technical
    Tahuya in NW Washington
Barlow Toll Road near Government Camp, Oregon - pretty simple, but fun from a historical perspective
TSF (I personally would like to go somewhere else - been there too many cycles)
    Evans Creek (Washington area)
Exploration of random NF roads in Detroit, Oregon - I know one very brief technical trail. The rest is just exploration, no promises.
Noonday Trail (near Cottage Grove) - JoeTacoma has a guide for us for this one
    Trask area (near TSF)

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I wouldn't mind checking out Evan's Creek. There's also Elbe, but I've heard that's pretty narrow/messy so there's high probability for damage.

    Elbe is unavoidable damage
Evans is narrow, but I think it could work. I have to see if the Gitout boys have input. they fit a FJZ80 through...

    NEW MEET/

    7-14-2012

    Location: Browns camp, TSF

    Peeps attending:
    Mitch
    Brian
    bailerc (Cody)
    KalamaKid (Jason) Maybe

Everyone will need an OHV permit. Look on the first page for locations where to get one. They cost 10 bucks for 2 years. Also safety equipment and recovery gear that you have. If you have a CB, awesome. Channel 22.

For people coming from Portland. Lets meet at 11 at the McDonalds in North Plains right off of Hwy 26.

If you want to meet within Browns lets meet up right at Browns Camp Stagging .

For trails I am thinking of these:
    #6 Browns Powerline (Green)
    #20 Hoodraiser (Green)
#18 Hogsback (Blue) we can look before. To make sure everyone is comfortable
    #26 Ample and Alluring (Blue)

Unless you guys can think of something else to do. Those 4 trails with ride time I think will be a couple hours of fun and HOPEFULLY ZERO damage

i went ahead and posted it all official-like on the first page. some notes:

There's two staging areas in TSF. If you go off the highway and take your first left, that is Roger's staging area. If you go up near the Brown's Camp campground, that is the Brown's Camp staging area.

Hog's back is a black/blue. The black is the hill climb (which is actually pretty friendly to stock trucks when dry). The blue is the windy tight trail.

Hoodraiser is a green/blue, but really I stick it in 2WD and rally that shit. All drivers, including stockers, should find this trail fun and friendly!
