Been browsing your forum for a little while, so it's about time I introduce myself. I just picked up an 08 regular cab 4x4 to replace my WRX. As much as I loved that car, I need something more practical that can haul stuff around the house and transport my bike from track day to track day.

So far so good with the truck. I'm not nearly as let down with the power of the 2.7 as I thought I'd be, but we'll see how long that lasts. Rides nice and looks better than any other truck in its class IMO. No mods yet besides my deck and Sirius, but the windows are getting tinted on Friday. Not sure how many performance mods I'll do since I just came from a vehicle that this will never compare to...but who knows? Maybe I'll do some suspension work...

Although come to think of it, maybe lighting. OH I dunno, I'm sure you guys will take care of my 'wants', lol.

Welcome to TW. Before you know it, you'll be modding the crap out of it. It's a disease that you will soon understand.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to stay away from the modding as long as I can possibly stand it. My WRX was pretty heavily modified, and I need the cash to fund my motorcycle addiction:D

But you're probably right: it is inevitable!

You can get a bit of cheap extra power by letting that 2.7 breath a little easilly.

Remove the secondary air filter (free)
Install a high flow OEM replacement like the aFe Dry Pro S (about 30 bucks)

Be sure to browse the cheap/free mods area. :D

I'll definitely do the secondary filter removal. I've been looking at it for a few days now and it's just a matter of time...probably after the engine is broken in. Maybe after I switch to synthetic. Not sure if I'll go with a freer flowing filter or not. I'd like to have this truck for a long long time. Good filtration would help me achieve this. We'll see.
