Seriously I'm not going to get rid of that Silverado anytime soon. I just got back from last goose hunting trip yesterday- 700 mile round trip.

Truck is so awesome to drive. It banged around the fields just fine, 12" snow not including drifts. Great workhorse. Averaged 18mpg to boot.

    No complaints here.

In fact I have 6,000 miles on the truck- had it 6 weeks so far. There are ZERO quirks, issues- none of that. No bouncy hood, erratic shifting, 100% positive 4wd engagement and it's getting the rated mpg. Everything works.

Everyone in my family loves it, way more than the Tacoma. Even my 18yo son likes it better.

Edit- in fact I was joking about the Power Wagon with my wife yesterday and she said "I get the Chevy then!!" No shit!

I have a 2015 Sierra All Terrain. Its a great truck but I dislike the lack of aftermarket parts like Toyotas offer. The pickup for a 5.3 is really weak too. My guess is the V8-V4 that slows the response off. I average 18-20 unless its really cold, then It drops to 16. You'd think the "all terrain" would feel like an off road truck but it doesn't.

After market is much much smaller. I have no issues with it other than it is a slower take off.

No there's some aftermarket. Fox owns BDS, and they make some 4-6" lifts (drop) that don't screw your cv angles so much.

Lots of bumpers and crap too. Of course GM trucks you can get Diablo chips, tuners- all that stuff you can't get for tacos.

There's a lot out there. There's no shortage of modded American trucks here. In fact Toyota is the minority by far.

I just put 5100 Bilsteins on mine. Fox, King, et all make products for them. Just not a lot of takers. Most guys in this camp just want to lift and slap huge tires on them.

I like it for what it is- the 6.2 is sublime, all my gear fits and with some minor tweaks I can drive it pretty much anywhere I need to hunt. 99% of the battle is good tires and ditching the aero-dams anywhoo

I was going to get a 4runner myself but as others said, it's more family oriented. After I divorced my "starter wife", I sold our old 14 camry and got the taco. I couldn't find trail editions either...

Got a Trail premium in the garage as well. Great for hauling the family around and camping trips.

Taco still accelerates faster and has more power. Throttle response is better but it's not faster.

Great choice. Now you're made in Japan, have torque, a million Mile transmission and won't bind when you accidentally go into 4wd.

Ummm.... T4R.... dude owns this. Met him in Moab.

Don't think he feels "weird" commuting in Portland in this... aside from the fact he has bigger balls than all the losers driving Prius around town..

Well, it is official. I am picking up a 2011 200 series on Saturday. Almost picked up a 2015 Tacoma, but ultimately fell in love with the LC. Still a Toyota fanboy. I've loved having my past two Tacomas, and their resale has trumped all my other Toyotas (2 4Runners, Tundra, 2 Camrys) by a long shot. I drove both of my previous Tacomas (both brand new) for 4/5 years respectively. Took a $3k hit on each when sold. Unreal. I'm sure the 3rd Gen is a great truck, but after reading all the issues with the powertrain, I unfortunately am going a different route. Hopefully Toyota fixes the issues, as I'd love to get into another Tacoma in the future.

Glad you were able to get what you want OP. I'm also planning to dump the Taco and find something else.
I've always wanted a 4Runner, but could never justify it for my purposes. I need a truck bed to throw my hunting things in, including game.

Which truck are you thinking of buying?

    Tundra, Ridgeline, Colorado?
