Looks like a job well done. Thanks for your post.
One question. You wanted to black out the lights right? Why didn't you paint the shrouds also?

Thanks a lot man I appreciate it. I sure tried lol.

shrouds on the projectors? I stripped the chrome off with the oven cleaner and primed and painted them copper to match the wheels and other trim on the truck.

I wanna update this. It's been been precisely a month less a day since I started this grueling endeavor. This has been the most painstaking modification I have ever performed. It really tests my patience and still is currently. This is mostly due to my own devices. Personal mistakes have made this a little annoying. If you wanna know just ask. That being said, my painting is holding up great. The sealant is still effective after a few rains and 3 washes. ALL of the Morimoto equipment from The Retrofit Source is performing fantastically.

If you're up for the job (which is NOT bad if you do your research, read this, and watch the video linked in the first post), go for it, take your time, and go the extra mile. If you take one single short cut, I promise you will regret it in the end. To go a step further, if you make any mistakes it will pay you back 10 fold in labor to fix it.

All in all, this is probobaly my favorite mod on the truck.

If you have read all of this thread.. you'll see some drama about the adapter plate not seating the projector properly/straight in the housing how it needs to be. I removed that piece all together. That is my biggest regret. Instead of taking it off, trim the tab that fits into the projector(the leg on the inside) so it still grips the housing, yet does not dictate how the projector aims. Without that piece acting as a washer, the lock nut/jam nut can not do its job 100% effectively. My headlights are still perfectly fine and function normally. However, I could not tighten them down as much as I would have liked so I just had to rotate the projector about 4 degrees by using the HID harness on the back of the light as my grip(the only way to do this once everything is sealed and installed). Hopefully this is the last time I have to do this. It should be.

Looks good over all. I just got a set of used headlights for $20. Needed a little polishing of the lens but good to go now. :)
Time to take the plunge and try this MOD myself.
Just to clarify, all the tabs need to be sanded off flat on the back of the reflector bowl right? The used headlights I got did not come with bulbs nor a rubber boot in the back. Does the kit from TRS have the rubber boot or do I need to use the ones that I currently have on the truck right now? I'm assuming I will reuse all the bulbs except the main bulb which will be supplied with the TRS kit.

Thanks again for your write up.

Yes you'll need the boot from your old(current) lights. I recommend cutting it the way I did. I think another user linked a pic of his setup in here too which looks great.

You will still use all of your old bulbs except the main bulb which gets replaced by the projector.

If I were doing it again, I would assemble the lights without the lense, and put them in the truck. You'll notice they shoot crooked(pic of this in thread) and only remove what needs to be removed, while still using the locator plate. Grinding the tabs flat will work fine. I would go a step further and drill small holes about 1/8" deep and when I fine tune the setting, screw in some small set screws. This would alleviate the need to ever adjust them again, IF they move. The projectors only shoot about 20* crooked or so. I would do my best to only remove what's needed and formulate a way to "lock" the locator plate into place. Via set screw, pins, whatever works. I do not recommend removing the tabs all together like I did because that's my biggest complaint with this. Every few weeks I have to rotate the projector in the housing like I posted about the other day.

I hope that helps or atleast gives you a solid idea. Feel free to contribute here when you're doing it, especially if my methods aren't the best. This is purely to help others and I hope
You do find something I did wrong to make someone else's retrofit easier. Good luck!

The vibrations broke the jbweld. Then the only spot where it didn't was the spot where I put some on the projector and lock nut(as if locktite) and go figure I had to sit there with a soldering iron and a pick to get it loose lmao.

Not saying it's wrong. That's my experience with it. Had I been able to correct my other mistakes I bet jbweld would work better
