So I took another 2017 Sr Access cab for a test ride today. I'm having a hard time deciding between the manual and auto.No auto to compare this time so I took the manual. This is the second time testing one of these for me. At this point after driving it again I'm pretty much leaning toward the manual.
So the MSRP on the truck is $27,293.The dealer wants my truck plus $1000. Mine is a 2015 SR5 V6 4x4 Access cab,12,900 miles on her.
Opinions on this deal? I was hoping they could have done better, after an hour they tell me that's their best.

That....sounds....like....a smoking hot deal. They're going to trade you essentially an identical brand new truck for your old one plus $1000????

Style mostly. I really like the style of the 3rd Gen. Mostly the interior. Plus I really don't need the V6. I mainly use the truck as my daily driver/commuter. And I don't really tow at all. I've pulled a utility trailer once in the year and few months I've owned the truck.

It's really not identical. Mine is an SR5,the 2017 is an SR. I can do without the leather wrapped steering wheel, fender flares and chrome bumpers on the SR5.One thing I wish the SR had is fog lights.

The SR5 2.7 only comes in auto. And if I remember correctly I think the MSRP is about $2000 more than the SR.

If there is nothing wrong with your 15, why get rid of it?

As far as the deal. Do you own the 15 or are you still making payments?
If the deal your vehicle + $1000 our the door or do you still have to pay tax , lic, etc. ?

Hard to figure if the two are comparable that you are getting a new Tacoma for only 1k. May be a good deal.

Yes I see that also.and to me if the15 is paid for I would not go backwards either. But he is going to be happy with the SR except the fogs.

Keep in mind the 2.7 really opens up after a few thousand miles...
Enough power, even when commuting in the NYC metro area or on the beach with 265/75's.

Also, very hilly areas, even when unloaded, might not be a favorable match for the 2.7 & manual trans, I'd most certainly go w/ the automatic.

I don't want to give them any money plus my truck. The SR is 4x4 Access Cab as is my SR5. I like my 2015 just fine. I think I may miss the V6 power at times.Like when I need to pass someone on the highway. But I don't do much highway driving.i've had my truck almost a year and a half and i have 12,900 miles on it.
I still owe on my truck. So I put it to the dealer like this. No money out of my pocket and I want to pay $300/month for 36 months. That was my offer.Best he could do is $325/mo for 42 months.
I'll keep the forum informed as to what I do.
i'm going to call two other dealers on Monday. Thanks to all who have replied and offered opinions.
    Stay tuned!

Hey George, where are those located? Another reason I think the dealer could do better. He originally offered me $27,000 for my trade. I know they would then put it on the lot for $29,000-$30,000.And it still has almost two years and 23,000 miles of factory warranty left.
