    There is a circlip behind the trim at the base of the crank. Take a shop rag, fold it in half like a triangle, grab the two corners at either end of the long side, and then pull this up behind the piece of trim (like flossing between the trim and door panel), and this should pop the clip off toward the top. At least that's the way I remember it on my 93. I think it is the same...
