Another suspension TSB question (sorry!)

I did a brief search but didn't turn up answers to my exact question.

First, how do I know if my 08 came from Toyota with the new springs? Are the old springs 3 leaf and new springs 4? Or, how about new/old p/ns?

I had my motorcycles in the truck (one at a time, lol), and the rear squat was pretty serious...these are sportbikes mind you, not anything heavy. It was enough to be really noticeable, jack my headlight aiming up, and reduce ride quality slightly. How much would the TSB help?

Also, on another note, what are the thoughts on a leveling kit? I'd like a more even looking truck and would like the extra clearance in the snow...but I don't need it. How much will a load affect the rake with the leveling kit? How about with the TSB rear springs? If the leveling kit isn't worth it, I'll walk away. I'm not too proud to admit I only want them for the looks.

Get a mirror or camera, look in behind your rear tire on top of the springs. You'll see a long string of characters. If it ends in a 'G' you've got the good springs, if it ends in an 'F', you've got the bad ones.

With an '08 A Cab- Good luck getting it- You will most likely need to prove that you have a problem as the TSB does not cover your truck.

    Good luck!

Looks like the springs are the F springs, so I'll call.

Why aren't the regular cab trucks covered?

b/c they dont have the added weight from the access or double cab to be put on the springs...i think thats their reasoning.

if they dont do the tsb, which im just about guaranteeing that they wont do, since it is a reg cab.......go with an aal in the rear, and billy 5100's in the front....better ride and leveling, plus, the rear end wont squat as much with the bikes loaded with an aal.

leaf spring squeak is a different tsb...they just grease the springs...

the extended warranty will not cover any tsb. tsb's only cover 3 yr/36k miles...regardless of any other warranty...

and u can get the bilstein 5100 front shocks for $169 shipped from downsouthmotorsports on ebay

if the dealer doesnt wanna replace your springs for whatever reason(push the issue with them....they should do it on your 05 since you have extended warranty), get a set of aal's and install them. it will essentially be the same thing, but only do it if toyota doesnt replace your springs. as for the squeaking........spray some silicone lube into the leaf springs, it will take care of it..........if you have the tsb done, you wont need to do this. for leveling your truck.......bilstein 5100's....get them on ebay from downsouthmotorsports....best deal you will find, guaranteed.

Sure enough, as you all warned, the dealer told me my truck was not covered by the TSB. He did say that I can take my truck to the dealer and they can investigate. At that point, it would be up to Toyota if they decided to perform the TSB. Of course, they won't give me a loaner vehicle for half a day, so I'd need to make some arrangements.

What are the odds Toyota would side with me and send the parts? I'm thinking slim...

I just got my 08 DC done with relatively no hastle. Call the toyota 1800 number tell them you have the F springs and you are experiencing a harsh ride. They refered my case to the area technical rep who called me back a few days later and said no problem.
