Yea seems like the kind of thing I'm surprised more people don't swap out. Fj case and fj tube and you won't need the add switch anymore. Since you and I both know how easy that stupid front diff actuator is to get water in.

Ok so the new to me diff tube and intermediate axle shaft should be here Saturday. I will have to order a couple different sized bolts since the diff tube is a different design. I looked up all the Toyota part numbers tonight and will order them tomorrow from my local stealership. I will do a full writeup with pictures for anyone who is interested in doing this conversion (probably nobody lol) but if your ADD actuator fails the swap to the full time front is cheaper than 1 ADD actuator so it's a win in my book. Once I do the swap I will have a side gear, working front differential actuator, and ADD switch for sale if anybody needs them.

I believe they have an actuator with a shift fork similar to the 2nd gens only the actuator is driven by vacuum hoses and relays where ours is driven by a small Rube Goldberg looking time machine.

For now I'll just leave it full time in the front. Once I get everything bolted up I'll take a few gas mileage checks to see what the change was. For me it would also depend on the price and availability of the manual hubs.
