Well one of the monitors cleared but the other drive the MIL,

    P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, and P2419

2 trip detection logic so that would explain why I had not seen it before. Looks like a new charcoal canister is in order, $250 down the tube for some worthless emissions BS

Well here's to hoping I don't have to do that again for a while. Getting it unwedged from the crossmember and where my shocks were was fun. Had to remove muffler to get the canister suction line removed. Several bolts rusty, had to chase the holes and reapply with liberal amount of anti seize on the way back in, luckily nothing stripped or broke though.

I remember that being a tight squeeze of a job but I think the inboarded rear shock setup is what really hung you up. They’re right in the way of where you have to go for that swap.
Glad you got it knocked out.

I know it’s a little late but for future reference I had remembered in inesshell’s build he just made a little notch in the bed for removal. I know you have a lot more in the way but figured this might help or help others in here. Here’s a snapshot of what he did and how I plan to tackle it.

Thanks for the pic, in my case I have a 1" BL so that part wasn't too bad to get it untangled between the bed and crossmember. Worst part for me was trying to get the canister suction piping disconnected, no leverage to be able to pinch those clamp fuel fittings and release the pipe from the canister! Glad that is over, the tips of my fingers are sore as shit from trying to pinch that connector LOL

Not having any bolts snap or strip anytime I touch the truck is usually a win when it comes to work. Stoked on seeing you give the truck some attention man.

That's for sure! Usually not the case in most of my projects so I was quite pleased :D

Well I drove the truck around for a few trips between yesterday and today, happy to say the monitors are all complete, MIL codes are clear and the pressures are back to normal, time to go get the truck inspected :woot: Maybe I'll take apart my old one this weekend and see what I find inside if I get bored.

Took apart the assembly today before I threw it out. Turns out you can buy this separate from the canister but it costs just about as much. Toyota PN 90910-AF002, there’s also a corresponding Denso PN on there. The pump/sensor assembly is common for many Toyota/Scion vehicles with only the canister itself being a different shape. The benefit of buying the whole assembly is you also get a new refueling diaphragm valve and new charcoal obviously.

Even though the outside looked not terrible the seal either went bad where the roll crimp was or at one point in time sucked in some water/moisture during the test. Motor measured around 7 Mohm and was seized, as well was the vent valve. Any negative pressure reading I had was likely due to vacuum created during the purge cycle.

Magic electron dust that came out of the assembly.

more than likely. But to be honest I’m not sure when this even failed. I haven’t subbed it in the pines in a long while. My thoughts were it was just a cumulative degradation. Plenty of others got this CEL and failure that haven’t went down periscope lol

Went to install some poly core support bushings. A 30 minute job will turn into a few hours lol

passenger side went in no problem.
    294E870A-A3F5-4C91-874B-BB6709CCD98F.jpg

Drivers side appears that the cab shifted forward a bit, so I can’t get the front bolt aligned through the mount and frame, not by much but enough that it won’t work. I’m going to have to loosen all the cab mount bolts and try and shift the cab back by about 1/4” lol :bananadead:

yeah that’s some shit, gonna have to rip out the interior a bit to get to the cab mount bolts. Maybe a blessing in disguise anyway because the core support bushings were toasted anyhow.
