Blue turd is finally getting some much needed love. She'll be in good shape for wheeling in about a month.

For sure man, now that everyone is vaccinated and this virus shit is starting to normalize it will be good to chill and have a few cold ones, and yes gotta burn that tree before it spontaneously combusts in your yard LOL

Well I made some forward progress and reverse progress. Couldn't figure out the thread for the engine lift points because they were full of dirt and gummed up, so without risking stripping them out I ordered the OEM bolts. Grade 11 and I believe M8x1.25.

The holes where they go were cleaned out with a small brass engine brush.


I then threaded the holes one at a time and cleaned out all the debris, you can see the one that I ran the bolt and how they were before (don't mind the rusty header bolts LOL).


Weather has been too hot to mess with it but is supposed to cool off this weekend so I'll get the motor strapped up to replace the engine mounts. I also got my AC condenser in, unfortunately it is tweaked, even though the box was undamaged, the UPS guy maybe used it for a trampoline so I ordered another one.

Good thing is Amazon's return policy is really easy, bad thing is I'll have to wait another week to get the AC fixed.

 

Where did you pick up that brass engine brush dealy? Zon?

No progress on the taco, still waiting on round 3 of the condenser to arrive. Instead I spent some time getting my sisters car up to snuff.

2013 Mazda CX-5. The dealer provides lifetime oil changes for her as part of the initial purchase from there which is pretty cool. They provide video updates during each oil change and inspection and text you the video, I wonder if Toyota does this?

Had some fun and did the following: windshield wipers replaced, new rear license plate bolt drilled out and tapped to replace with SS hardware (old bolt rusted out in there and seized and broke off), replaced rear rotors and pads, flushed and bled the brakes, replaced the front LCAs, inner and outer TREs, replace rear tcase seal and change tcase fluid. Only bolt that really gave me trouble on both sides was the ball joint pinch bolt, one side broke off the head and seized in the knuckle and the other was severely seized but I got it to move with some persuasion. Surprisingly enough the Mevotech LCAs came with a new pinch bolt so that was nice. The ball joint itself was severely seized in the knuckle since its aluminum so that was fun beating the hell out of it to get it free. Alignment done at Firestone and they didn’t mess it up too bad, at least there’s no Cam tabs for them to bend over like on a Tacoma

 

Well there goes the neighborhood. Went to replace the engine mounts and the 3rd bolt I got to on the passenger side broke off. Looks like the steel bolts and aluminum block don’t get along very well. One of the other bolts had significant galling as well. Guess I won’t be installing these in the near future, I’ll wait until I have to pull the engine to try and repair that bolt and install the mounts, hopefully that’s a long ways away.

The RC is down for the count. Been troubleshooting all week. Finally had to tow it to the dealer this morning. Me thinks it jumped timing somehow.

I did get my winch disconnect installed today finally so that is a plus, truck started for the first time in a couple weeks

 

We’ve been hanging out on a truck forum long enough to see our brand new trucks rust apart.
