Called City Toyota where I purchased the truck and they were clueless when I called. Hoping a local dealer has already done this TSB so I can take the truck to them.

Did you just ask for the TSB to be performed? Did the service advisor know of the issues?

I didn’t know there was an issue, never experienced it. Thank you for sharing though. I did recently took mine in last week for two recalls. One for a defective rear differential gasket thingamiggie. Second was for a known defect with the HVAC blower, which they did not have in stock.

They didn't know but I told them I found it online and they had no issues doing the update.

Update, took mine in this morning to City Toyota and they did the flash for me without hassle. I did call ahead and speak to a manager hoping they would just do it and he said sure. Told him my truck drove much worse on trips to Tahoe. He said since they can’t take it up to altitude to verify he would just have it flashed and let me see if it’s better.
Got the sticker under the hood and the paperwork. No enough miles logged yet to see if is better then before.

I got mine done yesterday and they seemed totally cluessless but still did it. Good to hear they did yours. You talk to Bing? He seemed like a pretty nice guy, talked vehicles for a bit.

No, the manager I spoke with was Arleigh. How do you like the update? My very minor sample says better on the freeway and about the same in city traffic.

After a second trip to Hayward Toyota, I finally got it done. Feels like a completely different truck. Best way I can describe it is it's like driving with ECT on but a milder version. Truck is more responsive and doesn't hunt for gears. Fuel economy so far is better than before getting the tsb done.

Drove up to Tahoe shortly after and it felt a little better. Still struggles on cruise going up hills. Will stick around 4K rpm and refuses to go into 5th. Kinda frustrating. Otherwise it seemed better and my mpg went up. Not sure if that’s related to the TSB or not.

I mentioned the TSB to Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa when they did the blower fan recall on my truck and they did the reflash without question. I did bring in a copy of the TSB, but the service writer said they had already done the reflash on a few trucks and knew about the issue.
