Once I get my 2016 Taco paid off I'll be looking at getting a new daily driver. I'm looking for a sporty semi-fuel efficient car and I'm seeing old FRS's pop up for around 14-15k.

    How do you like yours?

Currently racking up the miles on my 2016 Taco and I'm curious what 3rd geners think of this car as a daily driver. I posted this in general automotive, but I don't think that thread gets much traffic.

Does anyone have a sporty daily driver?

It'd be a very fun car. A neighbor traded in his NSX and bought a BRZ. Super impractical (although they're 2+2, but not much of a +2), but at least you still have your truck. For the money, I think Miata's are super fun. Or honestly, I had a Honda Fit. It was actually a super fun car to drive and super practical. I could fit a ton of crap in it.

The guy has enough money to do what he wants. He got more for the NSX than he paid for it 12 years ago.

It's not the money, it's the fact that he's going from one of the most iconic mid engine cars with an amazing motor to a plain jane BRZ. Not saying that it's a bad car, just a downgrade.

I almost bought an NSX about 9 years ago, but the only one within a 500 mile range in manual was silver. That was a mistake on passing it up.

If you like a severly under powered car go for it. I personally think they are incredibly overrated. You can buy a Miata or a C5 Corvette for considerably less and have exponetially more performance and fun

i'm gonna agree with this. crack is awesome and all, so is money, but if i had either i'd give it up for a NSX.

The engine is pretty much junk. I'm not sure what Toyota was thinking partnering with Subaru in the deal. They should have made a high revving in-line 4

I daily drove my Z for a few years before I got the Taco. Have both now and never daily the Z anymore. While sports cars are loads of fun in the right circumstances, they are abysmal for every day driving in my opinion.

I've had a BRZ since they came out in 2013, it definitely a super fun daily as well as being a great toy for occasional track days and autocross. I have won STX class autocross events multiple times with many different clubs, lapped Porsche 911's and Corvettes at track days, all while being 100% reliable and getting 30MPG driving to work and back
If you think a BRZ is severly underpowered I can't even imagine what you think about your Tacoma...

And still be slower than most of the sports cars on the road. a BRZ makes like 240whp with one of those

Its a truck, I never expected it to be fast. I came over from a 600whp C6 Z06 which you can buy now for less than a BRZ and buying a supercharger kit

I can't read this post anymore. I'm getting upset reading that people are selling their NSX for a FRS/BRZ that's just crazy talk

    mx-5 for the win.
500 lbs less than brz. 50 less HP, but in that segment, the weight reduction is the go to. The fun happens when you toss it into a corner, and nothing corners as well as an MX-5 at that price point.

BRZ's handle nice, but there is a weight to them that you do feel, and it's just not as fun. Neither of them are red light to red light screamer, so the 50 hp doesn't even seem to make a lick of difference. It does look a bit more "masculine" I guess, than the miata.

Besides the BRZ and the Tacoma I also have a 91 Miata that was a driver and is now a track car. Both are fun on the street, the BRZ being ALLOT faster and more practical but I think that overall I enjoyed the Miata more day to day. When it comes to competition/performance driving the BRZ is more communicative and enjoyable, if the overall handling limit is a bit lower.
