Found a local shop that will install 265/75/16 X-ATs for $190/tire plus tax. Scheduled to have them out on tomorrow, before getting them out on I wanted to see if anyone has experience with them? If so how do they do off-roading and how do they do on road snow?

I've got 15k on them in 275/70/r18. They are tough tires and I've taken them out in the dirt, sand, sharp rocks, mud, rain, snow, and ice. They are excellent in all of the above except for ice. They do not have enough siping and will behave more like a mud terrain on slippery surfaces.

More details to come after I’ve had them for a while... so far, they’re great and look great! within 24 hours of them being installed, they were already on trails in Moab

I finally drove on a set this winter, absolute shit on the cold and ice.

They are a hybrid tire, A/T and M/T so I would say a great choice for a weekend warrior but a poor choice for a northern driver with only one set.

They do not but have a decent amount of siping so I would think they’d do fine on snow but haven’t drove on any

Worse on cold, I was really surprised at the oem wranglers when they came out in 2016. First tacoma tire in ages that wasn't awful in winter.

    Disclosure I'm Canadian

I see a a fair amount of snow roads where I’m at but not too many hard snow packed roads because they do a good job plowing and salting the roads.

I thought the stock wrangler tires were just ok on snowy roads so if these X-AT are worse not sure I want to keep them.... Yokohama offers a 30 day money back guarantee so I may look into using that.

What tires have you ran that you’ve liked up North?

It's hard to find an all around tire. I ran cooper AT3 4s last year for winter, but they fell short this year so I ran a true snow tire.

I've run Duratracs, they are far better on snow and are just as aggressive, they aren't as good as a winter but they perform way better than the Yoko.

I would suggest Goodyear Duratracs if you want a hybrid tire with winter capabilities, Toyo AT3 for 4 season tire, or Falken Wildpeak AT3 for a good 4 season tire as well.

I was initially considering the duratrac or KO2 until I found this x-at yoko and on paper it seemed like the perfect tire for me.

Do you know if duratracs still suffer with side wall punchers when off-roading?

Duratracs will always have that reputation, it's a hard trade off with offroad tires, you want soft for cold weather, but rugged for rough terrain.

https://www.nittotire.com/light-truck-tires/exo-grappler-all-weather-traction-light-truck-tire/ This looks like a good choice for your demands!

After some thought, I think I’m going to stick with them as for a lower 48 tire (in a state where you rarely ever drive on hard packed snow roads because they do a good job or clearing snow). I tend to drive pretty cautiously when it comes to snow and from the looks of it, the tire has a decent amount of siping so I think I’ll be ok

If they do poorly on the snow here, I’ll grab a set of dedicated snow tires next fall

I’ll try to keep this thread updated as I continue to use the tires
