I am fortunate enough to have the best of both worlds. Would not trade this FJ40 for any Jeep on this planet as it is just so much fun. Going to keep it until I am too old to drive then pass it down to my kids. Toyota forever! :D

I've had a few jeeps in my day,

first was a '96 XJ Classic 4x4 with a 3" lift, exhaust, intake, stereo
then I had a '98 XJ Classic 4x4 no lift, exhaust, intake, stereo, leather

also had a few others I bought on craigslist drove for a while and resold after fixing up:
    97 XJ country 2wd
    2001 XJ sport 2wd
    99 XJ sport 4WD: 242
    87 MJ
97 TJ postal jeep (that was really just too hard to get used to)

All that being said, XJs were fun when I was younger because they were easy to find and you could buy them at a great price especially when they were over 150k in miles, I do find myself looking on craigslist from time time still =)

Bought it back in 1995 when it was 99% stock and have done all the mods myself. Have the original hardtop and doors as well as a soft top. This thing wheels great and saves me from denting up my Tacoma on the tight trails up here. This picture is from a wheeling trip a few years back.

Had a 90 Wrangler till it got stolen a little over a year ago now. It was the only thing I owned and it meant the world to me. I ended up buying the Tacoma after that which has been incredible, but there are times when I would give anything to have my Jeep back.

Brings back memories of my 85CJ, and that ridiculous heat/vent system. I see you had to do the knob swap

I had two Cherokees XJ. A 97 red Sport and a 99 gold Limited. Both were 4WD, with the 242 and the 8.25 rear.

    Miss them both!

I had a 1964 CJ6 with the Hurricane F134 4 banger. Would go about 53mph top speed. It was my first vehicle ever when I was in high school. It was also the only jeep I ever owned.

I had (well, technically still have) a 2000 XJ that I popped a 3.5" RE lift, upgraded steering everything, built some bumpers for, etc. etc. These are just some pics I shot for the sale ad... hence the for sale sign.

I had a 2009 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. It was nice, and I got it crazy cheap because of the end of year sell out (paid ~$20k brand new). However, I got bored with it fairly quickly, and it had electrical issues. Lights wouldn't work sometimes, sunroof would get stuck open... a lot. The power-train never left me stranded though. But I'm glad I have my Taco now, and the WRX in between was a blast too :)
