I had a 01 Cherokee and I sold it when I bought my Tacoma. I miss it some days, but no comparison to my Tacoma!

Imagine how much of this could all be avoided if they would just return order to the universe and turn the forerunner BACK into what it used to be. Every young boys dream (no disrespect ladies); a Tacoma with removable rear shell and open rear seat.

But there is absolutely no denying the idiosyncrasies that come with a Jeep.
    - it will turn on a dime
    - it climb over almost anything
    - and with the top down it was fantastic.

But there are also downsides, especially with the JK (2-door):
    - there are ride issues
    - noise issues (you truly can't imagine how loud it is at highway speed with half-doors)
    - It cold in the winter and hot in the summer (no insulation in the top means rapid swings of temperature measured in seconds, not minutes...)
    - there is absolutely no storage space unless you take out the back seat, which is a two-person operation and then what do you do with a big bench seat?
    - and the manual transmission is archaic

So last fall, after renting a pickup from U-haul about 6 or 7 times in 4 months, I realized that having one Wrangler was impractical and two was just impossible. I lost the draw with the wife, so mine got traded. Do I miss it? Oh hell yeah, it is as close to a motorcycle as you can get in a vehicle. But I can't deny the Tacoma is sweet. It rides great, I can actually hear the radio, and everyone is thrilled about the bag of hockey equipment being relocated to the bed...

That's my new Sport right next to the SR5 that I traded my Jeep for a few months earlier (I hated the automatic in the SR5 so I re-traded for the Sport with the 6MT...but that's a different story)

So this is something no one has brought up. Jeeps a cramped... at least all of my TJs were. But my 2012 JKU is fucking awesome for interior comfort. I actually find it a much better shape to the cockpit than the Tacoma. I find the steering wheel and seating position in the Tacoma uncomfortable and I find the roof too low when climbing in.

I'll likely sell the truck soon. I'm enjoying my 2012 JKU much more and my 2016 Subaru Legacy. Both are more powerful and more comfortable. The only downside I'll miss will be the bed and (minor) towing capacity. I don't often go above 3500 lbs (which the Jeep will handle), but when I do, I'm going to miss the truck... until I hit 5,000 lbs, then I'd just be wishing I had a full size anyway.

It was tough. It had 250k when I sold it and drove just like the day I got it.

I've got 220K on mine. I'm keeping it. Actually looking at another one in better shape with only 140K on the ODO. Might get it for my daughter.

I miss my LJ and it would of been paid off by now. I was having drive line vibrations for a year and a half. I tried everything and spent too munch money trying to fix it. For a daily driver with a short commute it was nice but then my commute tripled and it wasn't good for the highway. Now I wish I waited and paid it off then got the taco but it's to late now. I might save a little and buy an old TJ to play with one of these days.

Just traded in a 2013 JKUR on 35's for my first Toyota. It's a blast and I'll be back someday. Want to set up a YJ for the rocks. And I think the Tacoma will tow it.

You would think, but it cant. The solid front axle and the wrangler is a way better off road vehicle.

I had a 2013 Rubicon. It was a great vehicle. I put 100k on it only issue was a blown radiator. If you are a hardcore wheeler nothing will touch a Jeep. The power is better also. However I think the tacoma is a nicer ride when it comes to comfort and road manners by far. Gas Mileage is about the same unfortunately. I loved my jeep but since I started building on the yota I dont miss the jeep much anymore unless I find myself in hardcore off roading situations. The Tacoma is a good off roader and if your not a huge rock crawler it does the job.

Yup, had a 2012 JK all tricked out, and haven't missed it, but on the best beach days. With as much commuting/towing/hunting and other crap I do, a truck is 10 times more practical/comfortable/powerful. I went the long way around and have had a Silverado and an F250 since the JK, but even if I was to compare my '16 TRD OR to the JK, the Tacoma would win every single measure, except cruising on the beach with the roof off. That's an expensive price to pay for ~10 days out of the year....
