I'll be purchasing set of Toyo Open Country AT2s this week. Leaning towards 265/70/17 as I do not think I can fit 285/70/17s on truck without lifting

I honestly kind of like how easy it is to break the back end loose cause I'm a jackass and have a 2nd gear U-Turn into the parking garage at work.

I've really not noticed them be super terrible on wet or icy roads, tbh. I drove them on wet snow last weekend and they didn't slip any, but I wasn't really driving super hard. People made it sound like I'd be in a ditch after 1 snowflake haha.

Thanks for the response. Think I'll stick with purchasing 265/0/17s as I'm stock in rear and 1.75" in front.

Yeah it all depends on your backspacing and offset. I know some people are running 285s without a lift and aren't rubbing.

First good rain of the year, I was sliding going up like a 20' incline on a PAVED road lol. I had to put it in 4wd to get out. Didn't feel safe with the family in tow. I wouldn't mind to have them as a second set of tires for wheeling only though.

I've put about 8k on my Toyo R/Ts. Love the look and mud performance but they are THE worst wet pavement tires I've ever owned. Literally dangerous. I have a 3" leveling lift with 285/70-17s.
Any corner or round-about I go around, the rear end comes around, lights flash on the dash, Trac comes on... I hate them. They seriously shouldn't be selling these for the road, IMO.

Wore out a couple sets of what you could cal KM1's. Had one set KM2's on a 3/4 ton. They did NOT like heavy loads. That problem doesn't manifest itself on a Tacoma.

Going from what I have now, they'll see 42/45K. 2 will eventually go on an expo trailer. 2 will be spares.

Smoothest riding mud tire ever. No bad habits that I can see.

Seem to be good mud and on rock, wet or dry.

Heeaded to 34" or 35's next. Geared for that already.

Decision is...... Tires or front locker first.

    Locker makes MOAR difference.

ESP Lockable Rear Seat Storage, MobTown Lockable Bed Hatches, lots of cool Mobtown products (Rear Bumper, complete set of 1/4" steel skid plates, sliders), Old Man Suspension and a bunch of other practical off-road tools to bulletproof my truck...
I have had 4 x 4 trucks for almost half a century...I've used pretty much every brand and model that has been made over the years that works (the best tire I ever had was the Armstrong Tru-Trac, which is no longer available)...currently I am using PRO COMP Extreme MT-2...this is the second set I have had between 2 different vehicles...they perform GREAT in mud and offroad, but as someone mentioned they get noisy with age...I am at about 35000 miles now and they howl...the key is having them balanced and rotated regularly... (which I am having done as I write this)...boy does life time balancing, rotation and alignment at Firestone make things sweet...I have had Pro Comp's AT tire priviously, but I was not impressed with the performance offroad...if you use your truck mostly on the road, get AT tires...I drive as many miles off road as I do on road every week...the MT tires have been a life saver in many many cases...buy based on your real needs...they both look nice and will do their designed job...

How's your tire pressure? Being over or underinflated could make you lose a lot of traction. The R/Ts are basically the same thing as the nitto ridge grapps (same parent company) and I figure they would do just as well in the wet as my tire. I would say these are just a little worse in the rain than stock, but the wide footprint helps a bit considering how aggressive they are.

Not worth much but I'm probably going to be looking at some Coopers next time around. They seem to get good reviews here. I'm rolling on KO2's right now and they have been okay I suppose. Good offroad, quiet on road but balancing was tough and I still feel like they are the cause of some vibrations. Only have 10k on them so far though so we'll see how it continues but I do not think I will be purchasing another set.

I feel like if you got in a place where you'd really need a front locker, you'd start to be more limited by the IFS
I'm good, my city has a ton of letters in it, he'll get confused and end up in Iowa somewhere
