Blackboxmycar.com Group Buy (any dash cams Thinkware, Blackvue, and more are valid for this deal as long as your order is at least $250.00 which is pre-coupon not after)

    Update 2-7-2018:

Hey got good news, I appreciate everyone who paid the deposit to assure this went ok. You will for sure get your deposit refunded. Blackboxmycar said it was going very strong and they felt I can make the coupon code public and it might even get extended beyond this weekend. Either way, if anyone wants to order (again, minimum order is $250.00) the coupon code for 10% off your entire order is "TACOMAWORLD". I am not sure how long it will be active, they just said they are considering extending it beyond this weekend.

Check out some of the reviews in my sig below, or also this post where I did a decent write up about why I like or dislike the several really good cams on blackboxmycar:

Reviews of the best Thinkware and Blackvue Cameras

    /Update

Once 16 or more people buy the deposit, we receive the temporary coupon code. if anyone wants to buy more than one cam, they can buy multiple deposits and that counts as 2 or more towards the 16. you will recieve a refund on the deposit once the purchase is made. I am gonna try to give a week for people, i hope thats not too long for anyone but i just want to make sure the last few people still deciding get a chance. I plan to close this off wednesday night feb 7th.

1-15 orders: 7% off your entire order including accessories.

    Street Guardian SG9663DC

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blackboxmycar Thinkware or Blackvue Group Buy:

So I talked to the owner of blackboxmycar.com which is a Canadian retailer but they ship to the US for free. He was willing to do a group buy discount for any orders $250 or more. Originally this was going to just be for the Thinkware F800, Thinkware F800 Pro, Blackvue DR750S-2CH, or DR590-2CH. But instead they said they will do ANY cams on their site, as long as the order is at least $250. It will be a flat rate coupon code so any add ons/accessories you buy will be discounted too. He said they have never done a discount over 6% for a public group buy before so it sounds decent for a high end electronic device.

So basically the prices are as follows on any of these cams from blackboxmycar and any accessories you buy with it:

1-15 orders: 7% off your entire order including accessories.
16+ orders: 10% off your entire order including accessories.

He does want people to commit to it though so once we get enough people he would require a $20 down payment, and a code will be given to people to make their purchase and that $20 would be refunded.

He says this is due to getting people to really commit to a group sale as I am sure people backing out last second is common.

Check out the cams I personally recommend below:

    Thinkware F800:

    https://www.blackboxmycar.com/colle...s/thinkware-f800-dash-cam?variant=51687234823

    Thinkware F800 Pro:

    https://www.blackboxmycar.com/colle...inkware-f800-pro-dash-cam?variant=54095567815

    Blackvue DR750S-2CH:

    https://www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/blackvue/products/blackvue-dr750s-2ch?variant=52982875143

    Blackvue DR590-2CH:

    https://www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/blackvue/products/blackvue-dr590-2ch?variant=48393905543

But again, you can do any of their other cams such as blacksys if you want, as long as the order is at least $250.

    Street Guardian Group Buy:

    Prices:

The SG9663DC starts at $349.95 with the base bundle. The SGGCX2 is $189.65 for the base bundle. The discounts will be a flat rate as listed below, so if for example you order the 128 GB card for the DC model, it adds $20 as typical as its a flat $60 off that model, there is no additional discount on accessories.

    SG9663DC $50 off
    SGGCX2 $30 off

PM me if you are interested.

    Original Post:

I am just gauging interest because I talk to several people in the industry, mostly retailers and see a lot of interest in dash cams but many people still don't have them. My friend from Street Guardian USA could give us a discount depending on how many people order. I updated this shortly after posting and talking to him. We decided it would be best to limit it to these two models because many of the other cams are discounted so much anyways he has no incentive to give discounts on them. these are their new models. Street guardian excels and offering very high quality video, in a full retail product. By full retail I mean it comes with everything you need, just just a camera and power cord as you'll see below.

All the cams are bundled with a memory card, the discount will be a flate rate regardless of which memory card you choose. I don't have current prices yet, but it will be something like a certain amount off if 1-10 people order, and more off if more than 10 people order. The orders will NOT be placed through Amazon though, it would be direct through street guardian's own store which is how they can offer a better discount since amazon takes a big cut typically.

    Street Guardian SG9663DC: https://www.amazon.com/Street-Guardian-SG9663DC-Channel-MicroSD/dp/B072HNKJ45

The SG9663DC is their new top of the line dual channel camera. It has a very sleek design for the front and rear camera, similar to the popular A119. This comes with supplies to install the camera properly, multiple mounts and adhesives, multiple lengths of cable, the GPS adapter, the CPL filter for reducing glare, even a cloth carry case. They even throw in string for removing adhesive mounts if you need to redo it or move it. I personally haven't used this cam, hoping to review it sometime soon but keeping an eye on it it seems like it offers some of the best 1080p + 1080p out there.

[UPDATE 1-10-18]: So I wanted to update on some of the things. I knew about some of this stuff but wasn't sure if it was public knowledge yet so I had to clear it up. The DC does have a parking mode but it's not "activated" yet and will require a 3 wire cable. I asked him this: "so when your car shuts off, switches to time lapse, when its triggered by possibly motion or g sensor, records a higher frame rate clip for certain amount of time before going back to time lapse?" and his response was "Yes something like that or more" so thats about what you can expect with the parking mode. It will require a ~$30 hardwire kit.

Also the DC does have WiFi, its another feature they didn't advertise because they were still testing to make sure it works and fine tune the app and firmware. So at some point the models will all have their WiFi functionality added via firmware update.

    Street Guardian SGGCX2: https://www.amazon.com/Street-Guardian-SGGCX2-Camera-MicroSD/dp/B076ZYQK1J

The SGGCX2 is the successor to the very popular SG9665GC which was a very popular dash cam for its high quality video for several years. They call the SGGCX2 V4 on Amazon because its basically the follow up to the SG9665GC V3. It also comes with a ton of accessories such as installation tools, the GPS adapter, CPL.

So if you are interested, I encourage you to research the cams and street guardian. They have a good reputation and their cameras always strive for great video quality while bundling everything you could ever need in each package.

Post below if you are interested and which model and ill keep a running list. I will try to finalize the discounts with Street Guardian soon. There is currently no deadline as of now.

    More Info

Someone asked why people have dash cams. Of course the obvious reason is to record any car accident you might be involved with, because there are times where you may be 100% free of fault (even in "no fault" states, that often just refers to medical costs. In my state someone can often be 100% at fault for the property damage) but you have no way to prove it without a dash cam. Examples of this would be someone running a red light but claiming they had a green light. if you check out www.reddit.com/r/roadcam there are many examples of this.

There are other instances to of vandalism or out right insurance scams like this guy keying this Blackvue owners Aston Martin (he was caught):

Or there are instances like this where someone reverses at a red light, then tries to claim the cammer rear ended him likely as an insurance scam. In this instance the cammer told the guy he had a dash cam and the guy fled the scene so its a good idea to never let them know about the cam, let their insurance know later:

Whats great about cams with parking mode (the blackvue, thinkware, and soon the street guardian with an upcoming update all have some sort of parking mode) is they can capture parking lot hit and runs. If you search youtube there are tons of examples of this, and the videos showing license plates allow the cammer to make a claim against the hit and runner's insurance:

    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=blackvue+hit+and+run

    Installing the cameras

blackboxmycar has several videos on how to do the hardwire, and hiding the cables is simple as pushing it up into the headboard trim or pillar trim so its easy to install so there are no wires showing (other than a few inches going up by your rear view mirror). Here is one.

I also have a video on how I installed my thinkware f770:

I have been reading your dash cam threads lately in prep for buying one. Was pretty dead set on a thinkware f800, but I am open to a good deal on this one you posted.

edit: Nvm, I really want a park mode of some kind and this camera doesn't appear to have one.

updated the post above with what models street guardian is going to focus on. decided against other cams for various reasons but as I posted above, he is willing to give even bigger discounts if more than 10 people order.

Count me in. Did some research and the old model has the reviews needed to get me to try it. I like the idea of turning off/on for audio. And the motion sensor option is a huge plus. I don't blow money easy guys, but I'm in for the price vs. options. I am no way affiliated with OP, or the company.

OP, I'm sure many of us will be interested in the harness option to be hard wired into our rigs. Can you get us a price for that also?

The Street Guardian SGGCX2 is the new and improved replacement to the widely popular and reliable Street Guardian SG9665GC V3. The Street Guardian SG9665GC V3 was declared one of the best dash cams on the DashCamTalk Forums! The newer SGGCX2 improves on the camera by improving on the lens and sensor, as well as wiring components. This dash cam also has a 2 year warranty when registered with Street Guardian. The camera still includes a free clip on CPL (Circular Polarizer Filter to reduce glare), making the camera even better, and a greater value for users! For an unboxing video and video review of the camera, scroll all the way to the end of the description!

The SGGCX2 at a glance may look like other dash cameras out there such as the B40 or A118 devices, but do not be fooled. The external housing looks similar to other cameras, but in fact is much different. The external housing of the SGGCX2is all metal, where as the housing of the other cameras are made of cheap plastic. The all metal housing keeps the lens of the camera from warping in high heat, leading to a more focused and sharper image regardless of high temperatures.

The internal hardware of the SGGCX2is also completely different and far superior to other lookalike cameras out there. The SGGCX2uses a high end premium Sony IMX322 CMOS Sensor 7 element (6 glass + IR cut filter) lens that records 1080p Full HD at 30 FPS, @ 15 Mbit/sec, along with WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) for improved night time performance. The all glass, medium-wide cut lens results in a crystal clear and perfectly focused sharp image. The SGGCX2 also now includes a free CPL Filter to clip onto the lens to reduce glare! Most other dash cam manufacturers require polarizing filters to be purchased at additional cost, but Street Guardian realizes how much this filter improves video quality and wants to provide their customers with the best value!

The processor of the Street Guardian SGGCX2 is a Novatek 96655 Processor, and has been known to perform exceptionally well in all conditions, and has a much higher heat tolerance than the B40/A1188 cameras that use a lower quality processor. The dash cam runs on a capacitor rather than a battery for better heat tolerance. The storage temperatures of the dash cam are -20c to 70c (-4 F to 158 F) and operating temps are -10 to 60c (14 F to 140 F). Lab testing is done beyond those extremes and the rated temps are well within the tested upper and lower temp levels to ensure the camera will operate in a wide range of conditions. Although the SGGCX2 does not have a dedicated parking mode, the camera still features a pause/resume motion detection system. The motion detection timeout values and sensitivity can be adjusted in the menu.

The SGGCX2also has a built in microphone and speaker. The microphone has excellent sensitivity for a far superior sound quality than other cameras out there. Street Guardian recognizes the need to be able to easily turn off and on audio recordings, so users can easily change settings to disable audio recording. The included external GPS of the SGGCX2 is also a major performance point of the dash cam. The GPS chipset used in the SGGCX2is an Ublox 7020 (quality chipset made in Switzerland) and has no problem acquiring a GPS signal quickly, regardless of whether the vehicle is moving quickly, or still, or coming out of a signal-less area (underground in a tunnel). Chipsets used in cheaper dash cams will take time to acquire signals, especially when coming from areas of no signal such as underground.

The Street Guardian SGGCX2also still has the 1.5 inch HD TFT screen, which users love. The screen is useful for monitoring the camera's status, adjusting the settings and adjusting the camera's angle before/after mounting. Despite the screen, the dash cam is still stealthy, measuring in at 2.83 inches (Length) X 2.04 inches (Width) X 1.69 inches (Height) excluding the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket mounts directly on the windshield, hugging close to it for a discrete and stealthy dash cam solution that raises no suspicions, unlike the suction cup style mount dash cameras. The camera also removes easily from the mounting bracket, making it extremely easy to move between vehicles. In the box also comes with a spare mounting bracket. Another neat feature of the camera is the ability to lock video files via a button, or when the file is detected to be an event by the G-Sensor. This makes sure that important files are never accidentally overwritten.

In the box of the SGGCX2also comes an included SAMSUNG EVO Micro SD card but the dash cam supports up to 256GB memory card. Everything needed to operate the camera and begin protecting yourself on the road is included in the box.

Street Guardian's brand name, and the reputation of this camera on the forum boards speaks for itself. This camera is a must have for dash cam enthusiasts, or beginners alike, and those looking for a feature rich, high performing dash cam will not be disappointed with this purchase.

This camera ships ships with Free Standard Shipping to anywhere in the United States. We offer international shipping on this item except to Russia, EU, EEA, CIS, Australia, and New Zealand.

This dash camera comes with a 60 day hassle free return policy and 2 Year Warranty when registered with Street Guardian.

    A thing or two...
There was an attempt at a dashcam group buy back near Black Friday for the BlackVue DR750S. There was a good bit of interest. The Black Friday sales were a better deal than the group buy, so the buy died.

I got in on the Black Friday sales, but good luck with the buy.
