I spoke with one of the very popular aftermarket lighting retailers about upgrading the Interior (map lights & dome) and Exterior (Backup, Brake, and Plate) bulbs to LED. I asked if any of these would cause an issue with the body management/canbus in my 2022 SR. He said no they had not experienced any issues with replacing those 5 locations with LED. He indicated that the turns did require a resistor. So my plan was to stick with the halogens in the rear turns.

Has anyone had any body management/canbus issues with replacing the map & dome and backup, brake, and plate bulbs with LED?

I've used @MESO and @Diode Dynamics interior LEDs, and Spyder LED tail lights, with no issues.

Be sure to buy LEDs from reputable brands. A poor quality LED could short out and fry the body control ECU. It's also recommended to disconnect the battery negative cable when doing the bulb replacements.

Map, visor, and dome lights replaced. Nice lights... The map light may be a tad bit too bright for when you are driving at night, and your passenger is looking something up using the map light.
The reverse lights-ppl complain about how bright the OEM ones are when using the rear camera. LED lights are even brighter than the OEM.
To replace the map lights I had to use the tape- trick to get them out.

I think I will be going with Diode Dynamics - they seem very professional and easy to work with.

Thanks for the input on the map light and the reverse lights.

I have seen the tape trick on YouTube and have also been told to pull the entire piece off the ceiling and remove the bulbs from the back. Not sure which way I will go at this point.

I will disconnect the negative from the battery.

Map lights would blink randomly when I initially used cheap LEDs found on Amazon. Would also blink when using the single wipe function of the windshield wipers. Replaced with Diode Dynamics. No blinking or other problems since.

Speaking of professional, their replacement SS3 LED Fog Light Kit for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma are awesome too.

Yeah, I already talked to them about those. Since mine truck is an SR there is no factory fogs. On Friday DD sent me the part numbers for installing the SS3 LEDs in my SR as well as the part numbers for the map/dome/backup LED bulbs. As I said they are very professional.

Probably do the bulbs in February and then the install the fogs in May after the weather warms up.

I highly recommend the VLEDS interior lighting kit over any other brand. Their end fire plate lights and their VTAIL tail lamp conversion are very good also. Pull the roof console down to change the bulbs. Easier than pulling the covers and jacking around with tape to yank the bulbs out.

I’ve never had anything but issues with diode dynamics trash, same for cheap Amazon and eBay garbage. I’d stick to better brands.

I currently have Diode Dynamics interior lights and HP3 for the license plate lights. So far, the HP3s have started flickering:

I also have the MESO puddle pods and one pod has completely failed - still waiting for replacement.

I've ordered replacement pods and lights from VLEDs - I'm excited on how those perform reliability-wise.

Curious to see how the VLEDS pods work for you. I wanted to put them on my Meso pod mount but the VLEDS I have (bought for another project but didn’t use), have a flange on them and I don’t think they’ll work in the Meso pod mounts. I was always curious why Meso changed from using VLEDS pods to his own copy version. I bet the VLEDS are better.

I get the sense that the VLEDs pods might be more reliable, but costly.

Just installed the Meso Dome and Map lights in my 2022 TRDOR. Quick and easy (besides me being a moron and blowing a fuse)

Vleds was the pods used for puddles light since 2019. I don’t think it was until recently he might of sourced his own.
