    Is your plan to weld over the powdercoat? I don't think that's suggested in any application let a alone something like this.

    Edit: Interesting...I just looked up why NTK offers them pre-coated. They say it's near impossible to get any spray or protectant on the topside once mounted, so to just grind away a portion of it bare and weld those spots. I guess that makes sense in theory, it may totally just compromise the surrounding coat but I suppose the ideas is it's better than leaving the top bare if you truly can't get access to it.

    There's about an inch of space between the cab floor and the top of the bracket, enough to get a rattlecan in there. The most difficult area to get full coverage with spray paint is actually the NTK logo they cut into the sides.
