Dubs looked more rested. Portland backcourt should do better in game 2 but their defense will have to be a lot more mobile to slow down Steph and Klay. I think Portland needs both aspects to win.

Toronto literally threw that game away in the end. Had all the momentum with less that 3 to go.

They certainly didn’t finish strong enough to win.

Ugh. Portland just can't keep up. Every game they are gassed by third/fourth quarter. Lillard has been trash.

The dude is harnessing his passion as never before. Pundits like to claim Steph is the man but the case could be made that DG is the team's actual mvp. The one finals they lost was when Draymond could not control his emotions and got suspended. They get the most out of every player because Steph doesn't ball hog and everybody there puts winning first but it's Draymond that directs the ball to the open man and anchors the defense. It doesn't hurt that Klay is a monster two-way player, Iggy has magic hands, Kerr can balance emotions and minutes, and Adams ruthlessly attacks on defense. Steph is the poster boy for what they do and a great leader. Primary scorers always get the nod as being the mvp, first Steph, then KD, now back to Steph again, but I could easily see this team being greater than we have seen yet with Green directing a motion offense that included KD as opposed to one that's either motion or KD in iso.

Agreed. Green is the heart and soul of this team. He showed that last night. I was not too happy when they signed KD, but he is an MVP, no error. But the team changed a lot. the part I liked about the Warriors. The constant ball movement. Klay and Steph moving all the time trying to get open. Lots of passing. The unselfishness of the entire team. I don't like to see KD out past the arc dribbling until there are 10 seconds left on the shot clock. Last night was Warriors basketball. Though I could do without them being down 15 to 18 points a game.

Toronto won a sloppy game on their turf. They had better step it up for game 4 otherwise they're toast. Leonard looked so unmotivated down the stretch.

Of course I revert to an earlier comment I made about MIL... they're playing great team ball and I think they'd stand a chance against GS... because you know if KD is healthy he is playing... and let's be honest Green, Klay, and Steph dont seem to jive very well when he is on the court. IMHO GS plays waaaaay better w/o him.

It certainly seems to be a case where the sum isn't greater than the parts. The difficulty is playing both styles in one game. KD can lull the offense into complacency but I think this run is good for them and reestablishes that style of play and also forces them to spread minutes around giving other players much needed playoff experience and confidence. It could end up being fortuitous. Each time in the past when KD or Steph went down the team dipped but learned how to win anyway. This time the stakes are higher but the result is the same since they've been here before.

Too bad Lillard got slowed by the rib issue but great to see the game Leonard had.

Too bad no DeMarcus Cousins. Too bad no KD. Too bad no Andre Iguodala. With those guys, it's likely it wouldn't have been this close. But, I agree, Portland has a good team, which will be even better next year if they continue to improve. I can't believe the Warriors left Leonard alone so many times. Oh well. Sweep!

I don't watch many NBA games that don't include the Warriors. But last night I decided to watch a little of Game 4 between the Raptors and Bucks. Wanted to get an idea of who was playing well. In the beginning I thought, holy crap, the Bucks look stacked with talent. The Greek Freak looked unstoppable. Mirotic and Lopez also looked intimidating. And they have the Best Record in the NBA, as well. I only watched a few minutes. Then I see the box score this morning. Wow, the Raptors had 6 guys in double figures. Looks like 3's and free throws were the difference. Otherwise, the stats look very similar. But, I didn't see much after the 10 minute mark.

Portland had leads, several of them. Doesn't mean they had it in the bag. Dubs lost more than a few with double digit leads this year too. The one against the Clippers was the most notable but I love it when they make Barkley et al eat crow. So they can't make it to the finals without KD? Yeah, right. I do think they matched up really well against Portland and the record shows that. They're not invincible but they do know how to finish, have been together a long time, and are still in the prime of their careers. Let's hope they get some rest and not rust.
True, both teams were down players, they were also missing starting center Jusef Nurkic. For the sake of Portland fans it would have been nice to see them at full strength but you play with what you have. For part off the clippers and rockets series Steph and Klay both had ankle issues, that was when KD carried the team, now the team is carrying him to the finals. Too many talking head sports casters trying to inject controversy or argue legacy issues. I just want to see the their best against our best but if not, no excuses.
