Hey the best parts in OKC are Norman which is a great college town just south of Tinker. Yukon which is a suburb on the West side of OKC a little longer drive. Edmond which is another nice suburb north of the Metro.

Avoid at all costs Midwest City, Del City, South OKC. I live in Norman it really is the best city in Oklahoma. Let me know if I can help ya further.

Get on the base housing wait list thats what I did people who are moving form out of the area have priority over others as you get closer to your date of arrival. When we got on the list we were like 30th but when we got here they had a house waiting for us. If you want to look out in town I would sugest Moore or Norman. If you need any contact numbers or help let me know.

we would rather be off base because we will make more money that way. do you know of anywhere closer to Tinker? each of those have about a 40 minute drive, which is a little much for us

base housing isnt all that big.... i didnt want to wait for it either.... i bought a house in midwest city.. as much as people complain about it, its really not that bad. just as long as you live south of reno... i am 3 miles from base. the longest part of my drive is from the gate to work.. takes about 15 minutes.

so just wondering, but what is so bad about midwest city? seems like there is a lot of nice houses there and newer communities, plus it is right next to Tinker.

yeah, think that parts of it give it a bad rap..... there's some shady apartments around air depo and reno... and alot of shady apartments on reno.... i wouldnt want to buy a house near an apartment complex in midwest city..

there's this channel 9 crime map that shows all the crime incidents everywhere in oklahoma city... you can do it month my month, and it shows street addresses...

LOL "avoid norman, I have never heard that from anyone ever. Norman is without question the best community in Oklahoma.

I'm one of the few people on this Oklahoma thread from Oklahoma and I can tell you MWC has nice parts like anywhere else. However, it has one of the highest crime rates in all of Oklahoma.
