I am a PC Building enthusiast.

    I'm also a PC Gamer.

I just want to see if there are any other computer building aficionados in this forum. It's certainly a fun and expensive hobby as technology is always changing.

Here's my current build and set up. I've had it since 2014 but I've helped my friends build a bunch of theirs. I know that this is not the best build out there, but this is just what worked for my budget around that time. This was probably purchased in pieces through a 9 month period.

I have a buddy who is a streamer and I've built 3 or 4 computers for him. Here's his main rig versus his streaming and encoding machine.

Damn that's a nice build! I love the cable management too.

I want to do another build and do a white theme but it's not easy looking for parts with that color. The most common color for PC components is red. His case almost looks like mine! I just raised my HDD bay so that I get more air flow from my two front intake fans.

Yours is beautiful. I love the light set up you have and the fan/temperature monitor in the front! You don't plan on changing yours anytime soon eh?

I hate how my none of my monitors match. I need to get a 144hz but those are so expensive :( but I know it's bottlenecking my rig. I want to eventually get those quad monitor mounts.

Thanks man! Those are rather old pictures I have sleeved cabling now along with a neon tube fan controller. I did want to do a full custom water cooling loop but once I got my truck I kind of lost interest and funds, lol. It's still pretty capable for what it is. I had a friend who worked for Corsair who hooked me up with the RAM. I also replaced the rear exhaust fan with a Noctua LinusTechTips edition PWM fan.

    Here's a picture I took right now:

I had three monitors at one point, I'll be honest I never used them. Only a few games ran smoothly with it. I ended up selling two of the three 1080p Dell UltraSharps and keeping one as an extra monitor on the right while my main monitor is a 4K Asus PB287Q.

Wow dude those RAM sticks look so fancy haha. And your aftermarket CPU cooler is SO beefy. Jesus that looks amazing.

I do like my water cooler, though I haven't had a chance to overclock it yet. I want to so that it gives me an excuse to upgrade haha.

Looks like you need a good dusting! What do you use to clean it? I actually use this https://www.amazon.com/Metro-ED500-DataVac-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW because I would never those those can filled dusters because the potential of liquid coming out of those and ruining your components...

Ah, well I have to have 4 monitors. I'm still struggling with 3 :D

I have one monitor for all my temperatures, fans, utilization, etc. One monitor for gaming. One monitor for spotify. One monitor for youtube, netflix, internet browsing, etc.

I also do work at home sometimes and I need the extra monitors because often times I'm having to deal with Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Word or Excel, Power BI, and a bunch of other software simultaneously.

I need one of those but can't bring myself to spend the money on it. I just use the canned air from Costco. Yeah I've been neglecting to clean it, lol. I mostly do work on it now, been a while since I've touched a game. Too busy.

Interesting thing about that CPU cooler, it's based off of a Ford GT v8 engine. I was just going to be simple and get a water cooler but I just liked how this one looked so much.

Yeah, you're right. The CPU cooler looks so THICCC. I like it. If I do upgrade, I might switch to that because it's 1/4 of the price of water cooled and requires less maintenance.

What games did you used to play?

I sucked at MMORPG's so bad, I mostly played single player and campaigns. I played games like Battlefield, TF2, CSGO, GTA Trilogy, most of the Telltale games, Fallout, Max Payne, etc etc. I was a console gamer way before, think the last console game I played was Call of Duty MW3.

What got me into PC Gaming was actually Minecraft, which sounds ridiculous. That was way back when during Alpha and Beta in 2010/2011.

Tried learning how to fly a plane with Flight Simulator X. I actually bought the real professional plane simulator Yoke and Throttle controls from Saitek. That novelty wore off quickly. Lol.

Ah maybe we can play CSGO sometime whenever we're both free.

You know I've wanted to purchase Flight Simulator X for the longest time, only because of the community. You know the youtuber: Airforceproud95? I watch his videos constantly and they are just so funny. It's what made me want to get into the game haha.

I love the Samsung EVO SSD. It's solid and quick.

Wait, so you have 2 pairs of different DDR3 sticks? You have 12gb of RAM and each pair at two different speeds? I thought it was always best to have an number of RAM and to have your sizes and speeds identical for optimum performance and to avoid any compatibility issues.

If you have two different sets of ram at two different speeds the higher clocked RAM automatically performs at the lowest speed of the provided RAM. For example, if I had 3 sticks of 2400MHz and 1 stick of 1566MHz all four would
    Perform at 1566MHz

Yea 2 different pairs, no issues with them. The faster one clocks itself down to match the slower.

I've got filters in the front of the case, I'll clean them whenever I remember. That's actually not a bad amount of dust lol. I have opened customer computers and it was amazing that the fan could spin... I swear I pulled an entire cat out of one before.
