Built my PC just before everything went into lockdown and I’m so glad did, been gaming for nearly 2 months straight to keep myself busy. D45924CD-BDAB-477A-BCAD-20DE44DE8C95.jpgC222C8D5-1829-426E-9447-746603F709C4.jpg
Did not hold back on RGB either. Could’ve bought a off-road bumper for the price of my PC.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Finally stopped being lazy and took it out to the garage to blow all the dust out. Even though I was super careful it's always a little nerve-wracking when unplugging everything, taking the doors off, carrying it outside, etc. I still like this case and think it's cool but man taking the front panel off and reinstalling sucks.

    Need a little help.

I've been trying to reformat for a couple hours on my raid drives. (2xsamsung 850 pros in raid)

I've tried formatting during windows 10 installation and also thru command prompt.

    Delete raid setup
    create raid setup.
    Blah, blah, blah.

But every time I get windows loaded, and it starts up, there an existing wallpaper from a previous installation.

So that tells me that the drives weren't completely formatted.

I've tried deleting the raid volumes and formatting the seperate drives. 2x256 gig pros.

I've tried formatting them in the raid drive.

It doesn't seam like I can get them completely erased for a clean win 10 installation.

So now I'm thinking I need to write zeros to both drives, then raid 0, then install win 10.
    Does that sound right?

It's been a while since I've used Windows. Usually during setup, the format option has a quick format check box. Uncheck it if that's still a thing :notsure:

I'm thinking the pic is coming up because at the beginning of the windows install it asks me if I want to create a pin or log in with a Microsoft acct.

I've tried both and after the 1st boot up, it still shows an old background pic from previous installs.

But the disks should be wiped clean.

Makes sense. The last version of Windows I really used was XP. No M$ account required. A quick format doesn't typically delete any data, just more-or-less deletes the table of contents to it. In the past, I've had new installs pick up on some of the old data.

Ok gentlemen, one of my birthday presents is the Logitech flight system, it invites two questions though.
First, my keyboard takes up my only PS/2 Port, I need a PS/2 port for my throttle quadrant, is there an easy way around other than going to a USB keyboard?

Second, my rig has decent specs,
    CPU: R5-3600X
    GPU- RX580 triple fan OC’d to 1500mhz
    RAM: 16GB 3200 (2x8)
SSD: 2x 1TB Samsung 850 Evo and a Samsung 970 M.2 for the boot drive

but for FS 2020 the “recommended” GPU is an RX590 or better, minimum is an RX570, and “ideal” is a Radeon VII or RTX2080, since I’m only running 1080P 60hz do you guys think I’ll be fine running the OC’d 580?
I know there’s no definitive answer since the game hasn’t released yet but I thought I would ask for your opinions.

It's pulling the background from your Microsoft account. With Win10 the first thing the install does is install your network adapter drivers then start downloading your most recent profile information. If you don't manually force Microsoft to stop sharing data between your PC's then every install will have the same background and sometimes even the same front options if the resolution is the same as your last install.

    Thank You for confirming.
Usually it lets me format during win 10 install.

Finally got everything back up and running after some weird stuff/crashes.

Finally loaded Origin and currently stressing the system with bf3, bf4, bf1 and bfV.
Everything seems to be running kosher.

Little snip of the build I'm still working on. Was my test boot still waiting on my CPU cooler to come in and to train the wiring.

Like someone else said use an adapter, they're cheap. It should work.

From what I've read FS2020 is heavy on loading textures and traffic onto the graphics card. The issue isn't as much about raw power as it is; first can your card first process light and tessellation quickly on the level of textures you want to see and, second does your card have enough video memory to hold the textures and traffic that you want to display. I'd guess your card is going to struggle to run the lighting, texture packs, and antialiasing on high or ultra but should be fine at medium or below. On the second part your card should be okay as long as you have a 580 with 8 GB of video memory. If it's the 4 GB version you'll have to reduce your draw distances and possibly turn off traffic.

I've also heard the rumor that to run the game at the level they've shown in previews you will need DX12 Ultimate. That would mean a Navi (AKA 5X00) series card or RTX card.

I don't know how attached you are to you keyboard, but there are some really nice usb keyboards out there. For example my G-skill mechanical keyboard has rgb led customizable lighting, a usb passthrough that allows you to plug in something (in my case my mouse) to the top, audio controls(pause play skip volume up and down) 6 unlimited keystroke macro keys, and three onboard saved profiles so you could technically have 18 macros. I know that was a mouth-full but if you aren't attached to your keyboard there are some really nice ones out there.

I’m not terribly concerned with having spectacular graphics so my card should get me by for now, I do have the 8GB version so that’s a positive.
    Thank you for the info.

In slightly attached but it’s time to retire it, it’s an old, old keyboard and the keys are just a tad long for my taste so when I start typing I usually will miss letters here and there because of the required keystroke.
    7D86C0B7-C674-4F8F-B552-116AD4A86C80.jpg

I don’t have a whole lot of desk space though, which leads to my next question, if I set up the controls to fly off of the secondary screen (the left screen), could I use a spare Bluetooth keyboard as a macro board and assign commands to individual keys? I think I should be able to do it just by re-binding the keys in game, correct?

Or just buy a keyboard with Macros. It's a bit pricey but the G815/G915 keyboards are amazing. I'm not even lying when I say I had to get one for both my computers at work after buying one personally. The compact switches, low profile design, and ultra stiff chassis are something that used to only be available in a custom board. Logi hit a home run with those keyboards IMHO.

I have to agree. A nice mechanical keyboard with your choice of key to help with missing letters (red brown blue etc.) and macros would serve you well.

Not sure what 4 gig EVGA Superclocked 770's in SLI vs RX580 do but I still have 2 for sale.

Memory would be an issue. SLI cards do not pool memory, so the effective video memory with 2 4GB cards is still only 4GB.

Then there is also the SLI support problem. I haven't seen anything suggesting FS 2020 will use SLI which means it's a crap shoot if it will. A single 770 is quite a bit slower than the 580, about 30-40% slower. Even if SLI is supported there is a good chance the two 770s won't be able to make up that gap. SLI isn't linear and it's not uncommon to only see a 20-50% frame rate bump even on the best optimized games, especially at lower resolutions like 1080P.

On that note I consider SLI dead. I had 2080s in SLI and ended up dumping them for a 2080Ti. The support was too finicky and a lot of titles just flat out didn't gain anything with dual cards. There is even a rumor out now that nVidia will kill SLI for gaming cards in the RTX 3000 series and then relaunch it for the RTX 4000 series with a totally new concept. The reason SLI support is dying is twofold. One, it's hard to design games to efficiently use all of the resources of both cards. Two, even if the game can be optimized there isn't any real incentive to run SLI over one single powerful card. One card setups end up being far more power efficient and with the 2080Ti it's no problem to push 4K60fps in most games.

When nVidia relaunches SLI the rumor is that they'll use tiling to fix some of these issues. Right now SLI works by having each card render half the frames. One of the cards, the master, then stacks these frames into the correct order. If things work right this is a smooth process, but reality is it doesn't work that way and you either see minimal frame rate gains for the amount of card power being used or, worse, you get choppy performance as the master card tries to match the frame rate between the slave and the master card. Tiling works differently. It requires a much higher speed connection with low latency between the cards, NVLink could help solve that, but if possible it effectively links the cards completely. Once the cards are linked each frame is divided into dozens of tiles, like a tile floor with two colours, with each card taking a set of tiles to render and then spitting the image out without any processing by the master card. This would allow for linear GPU scaling in games even without formal SLI support from the game designer. It also allows for an effective linear doubling of video memory, since each frame can use both cards memory buffer capacity. nVidia hasn't got it to work quite yet but if they do it could mean the return of multi-GPU cards like the X2 line way back from AMD as well as the return of multi-card setups. This is also partially what is fueling rumors of a RTX 3090 card. It's completely possible that nVidia is ready to release this technology but hasn't demoed it yet, and they only want to probably launch it to the select few gamers who want 2K360fps or 4K120fps. We could very well see a dual GPU card from nVidia based on this concept if they have a working low latency link and AMD pushes them hard enough that they need multiple dies to retain the gaming GPU crown.

Wow those aren’t cheap , the g skill KM780R with Cherry Red switches seems to be a good option for under $100, I need to do some more research on the cherry switches but I’ve heard good things about red switches.

Yeah, it would be nice to be more confident with my typing.
